Default Getting tougher to watch for me...

Last night I tuned into the GG on the Hallmark channel, where they ran four eps back-to-back. After a long day, I thought it would be relaxing to watch. It wasn't for me.

I think this was the first time I sat down and watched the show since Rue passed away, and I didn't enjoy it as much knowing three of the four characters on the show were gone...all very recently. I didn't laugh as much (like I once did at these same eps), I just chuckled....and then I stopped watching after the second ep. I guess many years ago when I was much younger, I thought these actresses would be around forever and a day, and the day they would be gone was a far time off. Of course they wouldn't be...and the day would come, and now the show (for me) just doesn't seem the same without them.

Has anyone else felt this way watching the show - that there's something missing knowing three are gone?

Most of the actors and actresses who starred in tv shows when I was a kid are now gone so I do understand how you feel. It's just never the same again. I loved the GG when it originally aired but I haven't watched it in a long time. I'm sure if I do, it will feel strange knowing that 3 of the stars are gone. I guess that's life though. I think in time you'll be able to laugh again at the show. It will never be the same again but they left us this show as their legacy and what a legacy it was.

It's sad, but Golden Girls is timeless. It doesn't take away from the show (for me at least), knowing that 3 out of 4 of the girls have passed... if anything, I cherish it more! I feel kind of weird seeing Betty as she is now. Seeing her have to take her time walking down the 4 steps to the stage for her monologue on SNL was kind of depressing, but the girl's still got it~!

You caught that too? I did too. But hey, Betty is moving any way she needs to. Rock on Betty. She is the "it" girl now.

I absolutely cherish this show even more, now that we only have Betty left.

Capturing these 4 on film together probably wasn't thought of as "epic" in it's day, but in retrospect, each episode is precious; at least to me. Betty White has long been my favorite actress, and always will be.

She finished Hot in Cleveland in the Estelle Getty role. At least she rocked in that one.

I don't know whether it's because three of the main characters have passed away or because we got used to the format of the show and the later episodes were unable to sustain the standard of the earlier series. If I compare the genre of comedy to that of drama I still prefer the 1970s Columbo to the 1990s comeback because they were better written, not because I know that Peter Falk is no longer with us.

I love the show, and like others, cherish it more knowing three of the four great ladies have passed. Bea's passing really hit me hard, I've absolutely adored her both on and off the screen.

So glad Betty's still with us and GOING STRONG at 93 years young. God I love her and admire her spirit. Whatta pistol! And her tribute to Allen Ludden is so touching; when she was asked if she'd ever remarry she said when you've had the best who needs the rest. She's terrific!

For me this is one show that didn't decline in it's quality over it's entire run and there aren't many shows I feel that way about. I thought it was just as funny in season seven as season one.

I wish I could say the same, but IMO the later seasons sacrificed character truth for easy laughs. I'll still watch the later seasons in re-runs, but for DVD I've only bought the first four seasons. To me those are the golden years of The Golden Girls.

Just read in the paper last week, Angela Lansbury turn 90. 30 years ago she started her series.

I think the show Hot In Cleveland totally sucked.
