Default Why did they keep changing the family picture?

In season 3, they used the same setup of Nell taking the family picture.

Then in season 4, they somehow used that SAME one from season 3, and somehow threw Joey into it, they probably edited him sitting on the Chief's lap as the first 5 seconds, the movements of the family were the same as the picture without Joey from season 3 and they all were wearing the SAME clothes. They used that setup for the first several episodes. Nell's credit was with her in a yellow and black dress.

Then beginning with Daddy's Little Girl and remaining 5 episodes more, they did a new family pose with Simpson, Grandpa and Addy added into the picture. Grandpa was sitting in the Chair now and not the Chief, who was standing. Nell's credit featured her in that blue dress, which was not as classy as her dresses had been in the previous 2 credits of her's.

Then Beginning with Spirit of Christmas and I believe lasting until the end of the season, one last picture was taken with the Chief sitting in the chair this time and Grandpa standing up.

Then they went back and forth with the 2nd and 3rd family photos that season for the opening 5 seconds of the theme song.

Then in season 5, they used two different family photos on the stairs, one with Sam in a really nice green dress but Jonathan wasn't present in the picture, then when Jonathan returned from the dig in "Bienviendo, Jonathan", there was another picture on the stairs with Jonathan but no Katie in it. The theme song got a little different in tone a few episodes into the season, too. They also alternated the photos I believe in the first 5 seconds throughout the season, using the two different photos for different episode openings.

Then in season 6, they used one family pose from season 5 for the first few shows, then for a few shows, one family photo of just Joey, Matthew and Addy in the new NY apartment, then one last one a few episodes into the season including grandpa in the photo this time.

I don't know why they kept doing that.

I think season 4 they should have used the family photo from Spirit Of Christmas for the entire season. Using the family photo with just Joey incorporated into the photo made NO SENSE because it was just editing him in, and the girls did NOT look the same in season 4 as they looked in season 3.I did not like how they took the photo of the Chief standing up. It ruined how he was always in the chair. That photo was a bit far off, but the family photo that lasted until the end of the season was closer up and much nicer than the 2nd family photo they used that season with the Chief standing.

Season 5 they should have just used the family photo with the ENTIRE family on the stairs incuding Jonathan and everyone in the family photo, not the one where it excluded some of the cast members.

Season 6 they should not have even done 2 NY photos, they should have just used Grandpa in all of the NY openings. However, he was not living in NY right away so maybe they did that to trick the audience he was going to be in Glenlawn for good, and they brought him in and added him to the photo weeks later. I also think it would have been nice to add Mama Maybell to the photo, but I think they didn't do that because she was only seen every once in a while.

They did not edit Joey in they actually shot that intro the same way but I don't think they knew we would notice. Remember she went from just taking a picture in the intro then the same intro was shot but Nell was fixing the Chief's clothing.

Yeah, they probably did that. But it was weird they used that family photo that looked season 3 at the beginning of season 4. Right, she was fixing his clothing. But it was sort of dumb they did that and used that 2nd photo for the opening of the first few shows of season 4. Sam did not have the same hairstyle and didn't look boyish.

I could never keep up with the changes GAB did with the changes because they did so many with only 6 seasons. Now that I have the complete series I will do some serious checking into that.
