George Clooney to Receive Special Emmy
He's not a TV star anymore, but Emmy gold will shine upon George Clooney on TV's big night Aug. 29. The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will present the actor-filmmaker with its humanitarian award, named for the late comic-actor Bob Hope.
Clooney, 49, is being recognized for organizing a telethon that raised funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. He also has been extremely active in helping to increase awareness about genocide in Darfur. Clooney is only the fourth person to receive the Bob Hope Award.
