To prepare, the 18-year-old has gotten Botox and an anti-aging procedure "to look fresh on camera." A “celebrity cosmetic surgeon” said the operation was intended to make Charice’s "naturally round face" more narrow, all but forcing Glee creator Ryan Murphy to rewrite Charice’s episode to contain the message: It's important to love and embrace one’s naturally round face as it is.

Charice's Rep Clarifies Botox Reports

A representative for Filipino pop sensation Charice has clarified reports the teenager has undergone Botox injections ahead of her appearance on hit show "Glee", insisting the procedure was for medical purposes.

The 18 year old, who was discovered by Oprah Winfrey, was alleged to have had the face-freezing injections last week (ends16Jul10) to ensure she looked "fresh on camera", according to celebrity cosmetic surgeon Vicki Belo.

Belo recently revealed the singer wanted to make her "naturally round face" look more narrow before she begins filming on the TV musical later this month.

But Charice's spokesperson insists there was nothing vain about the procedure - it was purely medical "to relieve a jaw problem".

The rep tells UsMagazine.com, "It did not hurt; it relieved the pain. You've seen her face - she doesn't have a wrinkle in it so she wouldn't need it for cosmetic purposes.

"The 'Glee' people are thrilled with the way she looks which is why she got the part."

However, Charice admits she is feeling the pressure to perform well on the programme.

She says, "All people will be anticipating how will Charice look? Is she good enough to pit against (Lea Michele's character) Rachel Berry? So of course there is tremendous pressure."

The singer's appearance on "Glee" had been shrouded in mystery until now - her manager Grace Mendoza had previously confirmed the role, only for Charice to insist she was confused.

The star will join the cast of "Glee" portraying a foreign exchange student.
