Default WARNING: bloodyraredvds selling my copyighted material

Hi folks,

I wanted to let my fellow traders here know that bloodyraredvds, who is relatively new to this site, is selling a copyrighted title of mine (Twin Peaks Dinner and Conversation From Another Place) on iOffer and his own sites: extrararedvd.com, serialkillercalendar.com and madhatterdesign.net.

His name is James Gilks and he is out of Bangor, Maine.

Twin Peaks Dinner and Conversation from Another Place is a copyrighted vhs tape (from 1993 and then later available as a dvd) from my company Dream Logic Films (www.dreamlogicfilms.com). In fact, the interviews with the celebrities were conducted by me (as in I am actually on camera next to them, interviewing them).

This James Gilks, aka bloodyraredvds, had the nerve not only to sell my dvd, but make his own custom artwork for it. Ironically, he claims on his art sites that all of the images are copyrighted to him and no infringement is allowed.

The reason I am letting everyone know this is because I have formed a good relationship with so many traders here over the years, and I have been mindful not to trade stuff that is retail. For those of you that know me, I ask you not to indulge this guy by trading with or buying from him.

He's been trolling on this site to get Saturday Morning Preview shows so that we can put them up on iOffer and sell them. He's not part of the hobby. Just a dirtbag trying to make some quick cash.

Best, Joe aka VIDeoJoe

Hey VIDeoJoe

I can relate to your frustration.
I have authored dozens of sets over the years (you may have seen samples of my work around, or even own one of the sets) and when I see them turn up on sites like ioffer or sell.com making money for sleazeball sellers who haven't contributed a single thing to the hobby ..... well let's just say it makes me a little too.
Unfortunately, I can't really do much about it so that's why I adopted the "if you can't beat'em, join'em" philosophy.

You on the other hand, if you really own the rights to those videos, certainly have some options.

Thanks Joker. Yeah, I have traded for some of your authored sets and I don't know that I have ever seen someone's sets ever be the gold standard of hobby enthusiasts as yours are.

What is silly about the whole Twin Peaks dvd is that the idiot didn't even change the name. Plus, he has all of this information that leads to him actually owning copyrighted material on the websites I listed that belong to him. I already have a call in to my attorney.

Several of the folks here already know this about me, but I own Dream Logic Films (www.dreamlogicfilms.com) and host a celebrity oriented talk radio show on Seattle area KLAY 1180 AM called The Joe Parrington Experience (www.joeparrington.com). By default, we have a law firm that we've worked with for years. This guy is going to wish he stole someone else's stuff.

But even in the case with sets like yours that you spend time authoring and making nice for everyone, you still have every right to be upset to see your work, which you compiled for free, be sold to others who are unaware of the fact that it can be obtained for free via trades. Why should someone financially benefit from something that you brought all of the blood, sweats, and tears to?

Hi folks,

I wanted to update everyone on my complaint regarding the trader "bloodyraredvds" aka James G.

After seeing him selling my personal copyrighted material of Twin Peaks interviews that I conducted on iOffer, I let everyone know on websites, including this one.

Since that time, he has sincerely apologized for selling the material, claiming that he thought it was public domain. He ended up pulling the listing and has promised to offer it again.

After that matter was taken care of, we actually did a trade with each other for public domain titles. He was prompt, and threw in several bonuses.

He is also a friendly, easy-going guy to work with.

Bottom line, "bloodyraredvds" has redeemed himself in my eyes, I will trade with him again, and I encourage everyone that knows me on these boards to trust me when I say that the guy is alright and a good trader.

Best, Joe aka VIDeoJoe
