Hey, Larry Tate, YOU might know this..
But in the O.J.Simpson murder trial was Elizabeth Montgomery,in 1994,(yes,I am aware she died in 1995),since she starred with O.J.Simpson in the TV-movie "A Killing Affair",ever considered as a character witness for the defense?

Oh God No, she was terribly disappointed in him as she was very excited at first being such a big sports fan.
But he was constantly hitting on her on the set in a crude way, she was so disgusted by him that she made sure she stayed with the crew except when she was actually filming a scene just to avoid him. What I found out about Liz and OJ, well when they were filming A KILLING AFFAIR, he was getting a bit fresh with her and she didn't like it, he was making her feel a little uncomfortable, he was making discreet passes at her, and she was having non of it, so she avoided him at all cost, she was too much in love with Bob and she wouldn't do anything to risk that. Apparently Liz told OJ, "To knock it off!" She didn't let it affect her acting and she still acted out a top performance as she wasn't going to let him get to her, he knew she was in a deep loving relationship but it didn't stop him trying, so he tried hitting on her, anyway she told him firmly to pack it in, and he knew where he stood after that, so he just carried on with the filming and didn't try anything else, you are right he does loves white blond women and she was one that he couldn't have. On one occasion he said something well let's say something of a dirty nature to her, she stopped in her tracks and stirred at him and she gave him a very icy glare that made him jump back, he didn't say anything else like that again. I read it in a magazine article based on interviews conducted with the crew members from the set of the movie A Killing Affair.

It's too bad she WASN'T a prosecution witness. If she had given that kind of damaging testimony, she would have put him away for life right there and then. But,we'll never know.

Getting back to "Bewitched",it has been said that Dick Sargent was the producers' first choice for Darrin. Is this true? And how did the producers react when Dick Sargent said he wasn't avaliable, and they chose Dick York instead? And how did ABC react? And who were the producers whose first choice for Darrin was Dick Sargent?

The Producers who were in charge of the initial casting for Bewitched beyond the Samantha role were Elizabeth Montgomery & Bill Asher with Danny Arnold as well, this was before Bewitched was sold to ABC so they were not involved at that time.
Liz & Bill choose Dick Sargent............not over Dick York as he had yet to be considered for the role and they did not think of him until after DS told then he had signed a multi movie/TV deal with Universal and as such would not be available. Only after DS passed did Bill, Liz & Company go back to the drawing board and consider other possibilities such as Richard Crenna, Dick York etc. They brought in DY for an audition & the rest was history. It was never DS over DY or vs each other as they were never involved in the audition for the role at the same time. This is a proven & corroborated Documented fact and has been accepted as such over 40 years. What is incorrect is the revisionist history that is being perpetuated of late by those that can't stand the idea that Dick York was not alone in consideration for Darrin in the initial early time period when Bewitched was created & cast by Liz & Bill Asher in the Fall of 1963. At no time has Bill Asher said that Dick York was the first & only choice by them as Darrin, quite the opposite is the case actually & it is on the public record & William Ashers comments on the record & on camera state that the DS's contractual obligations such as his being on the Tammy Grimes show were indeed the reasons why he could not be cast as Darrin after he was cast as Darrin by Elizabeth Montgomery & William Asher. There is no reliable proof or corroboration that DS was cast prior to Bill and Liz getting involved nor that he was involved whatsoever while Tammy Grimes was cast as Cassandra (Samantha), no one at anytime, anywhere, that was associated with the show in any way has stated this was the case. As well Tammy Grimes had never actually signed onto to doing Bewitched & never was happy with a script for a Pilot, even the last one Sol Saks did just prior to Liz & Bill coming on board, as such as in effect the project was in such a initial state with Samantha not even having been officially & contractually cast, that there would have been no casting of the other characters such as Darrin until Tammy Grimes had indeed officially signed on which of course she never did. This makes the whole DS being cast back then with TG as being illogical as well. All this is is second or third hand fantasy or in some cases wishful thinking. As well there was almost no time in between when Tammy Grimes pulled out to to a Broadway show & Liz & Bill being asked to take over it by Harry Ackerman the shows Executive Producer. That DS stated himself that he was the first choice by Bill & Liz in interviews & as well in Bewitched Forever is proven fact & not merely a wishful assumption. Likewise so is the fact that this was stated at the time of his joining the show in 1970 in numerous interviews in magazine articles by himself, ABC & Screen Gems Executives & that Liz herself never said it was not so. As well in the ET Bewitched special & in the subsequent pieces ET did on the two Darrins re DS & DY it was stated by them in each of them that DS was the first choice & that DY was only considered when DS was not available when they went back to him after their initial interview in order to offer him the role. Furthermore Bill Asher in the E! True Hollywood Special himself on camera clearly states that DS was the first choice as Darrin, that THEY as in he & Liz wanted him but that he was unavailable, so there it is fact instead of fiction. Screen Gems did all the casting themselves for the Pilot & after when the show was sold, Liz & Bill had final say in all casting after they came aboard. Asher has been utterly consistent over the years on Sargent being his & Liz's first choice, there are no instances where this has been stated by him otherwise, nor has there been any offered as proof, why?, because it does not exist. From 1963 to the last year or two he has always said it was DS & never said it was DY, what he said was that DY was the best choice in hindsight & the only choice in that respect, not that he was the first one, there is a difference. In a recent article on Ebay about Dick Sargent taking over as Darrin it was stated that Dick Sargent had been offered the role in 1963 When Bill Asher was casting the show but had to turn it down due to a recent contractual commitment to another studio. And one final question:When she(or did she ever)learned that Dick York was involved with the homeless later in his life, was Elizabeth Montgomery in awe and surprised?

And I've heard once that Dick York said once something to the effect that he wished that Darrin had let Samantha use her witchcraft. Is this true?

It was more of a case of he regretted Darrin being so firm & tough on Samantha about her witchcraft, screaming & yelling at her at times about it.
So he said in an interview that he sometimes wished Darrin would just let her twitch so Darrin in the process would be more nice to her, that was what he was referring too. Being such a nice guy & gentle soul he felt bad about the screaming & yelling at Samantha because that was so unlike himself in real life. Larry Tate ![]() Quote:
