As previously reported here on BD, SyFy has now found their third Pop icon to star in "Mega Python vs. Gatoroi". Syfy found a way to make its Debbie Gibson-vs.-Tiffany movie a little more weird: adding a Monkee.



Mickey Dolenz, a member of the popular made-for-TV 1960s group the Monkees, has been added to the cast, in which 1980s pop stars Gibson and Tiffany have been cast as dueling rivals.

He most recently appeared on-screen in Rob Zombie's Halloween.


"Mega Python" is produced by The Asylum and is about to start production.

Micky Dolenz — former Monkees member, Hollywood character actor, and the voice of Snuggle the Fabric Softener Bear — will co-star in Debbie Gibson and Tiffany’s original Syfy movie ‘Mega Python vs. Gatoroid’. I love how “Debbie Gibson and Tiffany’s original Syfy movie Mega Python vs. Gatoroid” is a legit informational entertainment news clause at this point. Oh, of course. That. Mega Python vs. Gatoroid is set for sometime in 2011 and will hopefully be viewed and cherished by more than just the EW staff and a few hundred other nerds.

According to THR, it’s not known what Dolenz’ role will be, so it’s anyone’s guess who will join this motley crew next. I’m pulling for a cameo from The Snuggle Bear and maybe Michael Bolton as someone’s skeezy older brother. And I don’t think anyone would mind a scene where Paula Abdul randomly wanders in, just so everyone can say “Hey, Paula” and then return to their regularly scheduled programming.

PopWatch readers’ initial suggestions included Pat Benetar, Annie Lennox, the Wilson Sisters, Lita Ford, and “Terri Nunn from Berlin vs. Nena.” Who else deserves a place in this epic TV movie?
