WABC is reporting that Yankees owner George Steinbrenner has died after a heart attack in Florida. George just turned 80 on July 4.

RIP, Boss.

George Steinbrenner was dedicated to making the Yankees a winner. He truly cared about NY and their fans. It is comforting to know that in the last full season he saw, they were able to win one more championship for him.

I just heard that. Creepy that he died just after their announcer died. I am not a Yankees fan at all, but he was indeed committed to winning. God bless his family, friends and colleagues.

Is he truly sorry about his treatment of Dave "Mr. May" Winfield and expulsion of Texas Rangers fans from a playoff game in 1996? (Where was the outrage in the drive-by media?) He was a disgrace to baseball, and Butthead Selig didn't have the balls to challenge him. Goodbye, and good riddance.

Folks, I'm sorry, but I was angered not only by Steinbrenner's antics, but also by the whitewash job the media did on some of them like those I described in my previous post. Did he bribe the media with "hush money"? I can only wonder...

Though Steinbrenner was a hard-ass, he helped Cleveland's Mounted Police when they were in trouble. (Too bad he didn't bailout Cleveland when they went into default) But Steinbrenner...you'll be missed more here than LeButthead ever will be!
