Afford to pay for a tv, phone, table, etc. Did they pay for all of those things when he was alive. I know that they had a phone, but James never mentioned paying for any furniture. Where did Florida work, she didn't seem to work when James was alive. They would have had more money then if that was the case. Also, if JJ was working, Thelma was also old enough to work and bring money into the house.

Yes it was never explained in season 4 since Florida didn't work at all along with Thelma.

Season 5 you can say because J.J had a better Job and season 6 Everybody was working.

But season 4 will remain a mystery
