"Bones" Cast at Comic-Con: Handling the Bones-Brennan "Break-Up"
by Laura Prudom
posted Jul 23rd 2010

David Boreanaz is a Comic-Con veteran, and he reflected on that when he sat down for the "Bones" panel earlier today.

He first came to SDCC first in 1997 for "Buffy", when his character of Angel was all broody, wore dark clothes and leather pants. "I just f----ing love the leather pants," he said wistfully.

He thinks it would be great to see an "Angel" movie. "Everyone loves the vampire lore and mystique and mystery."

The big storyline that people in the hall were curious about was the "break up" between longtime partners Booth and Brennan (Emily Deschannel) - Booth poured his heart out to Brennan and offered to catch her when she falls "and she decided not to even fall" - Boreanaz pouted about how it turned out.

He said that Booth will always be in love with Bones, he's just trying to make her jealous. He might come back with a new love interest to do just that.

What would Brennan say to Booth if she had to be honest?

"Being in Maluku made her realize how strong her feelings for Booth are and maybe she regrets turning him down when he put his heart out for her last season."

Executive producer Hart Hanson says that there will be a fatality this season, but he won't say who. The gravedigger will return.

What are the stars scared of?

Boreanaz said he was scared of chickens and double decker buses, "they're "dangerous and wobble."

Deschannel said she was scared of snakes and being buried alive -- which means she "just had to hold a snake in the Maluku islands," and was buried alive in Gravedigger storyline.

Hanson said it's a total coincidence that all their fears end up as scripts.

When asked if it's even worth it for Booth and Brennan to start dating, Boreanaz replied,

"Oh it's just not worth it, that's the end of the show, bye! ... They need to find some space sometimes but they'll be able to connect on a deeper level now - they end up getting closer."

Hanson added to that with the cryptic statement: "Everything happens eventually - When? We're not saying!"

Hanson even took an informal poll of the crowd. If the cheering of the Comic-Con crowd was an indication, the audience would rather see Booth and Brennan together than apart.

On other fronts:

-- As the season opens, Angela and Hodgins are living a blissful life in Paris (shot in PARIS, outside Hanson's office...)

-- A character blurts out a very important fact in the season premiere and it's become one of the most important aspects of the series so far, but Hanson refused to be any more precise than that.

Angela and Hodgins pregnancy, perhaps?

-- The show was originally titled 'Brennan' instead of 'Bones,' according to Deschannel.

-- Hanson wants a 3D episode, but the audience doesn't.

Boreanaz: "Why don't you like 3D? Wow, they're really not liking 3D. How about 9D?!" Hanson thinks, though that a 3D episode is "likely."
