I don't know if this was brought up already or not (I have a feeling it may have been), but I wanted to mention this again and get some insight from everyone.
The very first few eps of S1 (I think the first three, which recently aired on ALN) had a longer intro by Valerie Harper. She mentions elementary school and her grades, as well as a few other tidbits of her childhood. Does anyone know why this was scaled back as the show went on? Personally, I'm not too crazy about this intro in S1 (I don't think we need to know her biography). I like the intros in S3,4, and 5 - just the music. |

I don't know why they scaled back the opening after the first season, but personally I always liked that season one intro. I think it's the one most people remember, and to me, it seemed very appropriate as it set up the basis for the series. And anyone who hadn't seen Rhoda on MTM could get a good feel for what she was about by watching that intro.
