Default Does anyone remember

The CBS 1982-1987 soap opera "Capitol?".It was a soap opera, set in Washington D.C. and starred Constance Towers as Clarissa McCandless, and the late Carolyn Jones(yes,THAT Carolyn Jones who played Morticia in "The Addams Family"and will be always remembered for that,),who played vicious, vindictive, mean Myrna Clegg. It was for her good performance, that I watched the series. When she died in 1983,her replacements on the show couldn't hold a candle to her,and I stopped watching.

I've heard of the show and read about it, but have never watched it. I did read in an old soap opera book that Leslie Graves (Brenda Clegg) became very, very close to her TV mom, Carolyn Jones (Myrna Clegg). When Carolyn died, Leslie was devastated and fell into such a horrible depression that she ended up having to take a leave of abscence from the show. When she came back, her heart was no longer in it and left as soon as her contract was up.

Sadly, Leslie Graves herself died in 1995 of an AIDS complications in 1995. She left behind a husband and two small children.

I casually watched Capitol back in the day. It was a good show with strong acting and writing.

I remember Jess Walton of Y and R was on this show, as a much more sympathetic character who had a friendship with a handicapped character (though I don't think the actor who played him was handicapped).

And do you want to know something else ?In her outstanding A&E biography titled "Carolyn Jones :Morticia and More",which featured commentary by John Astin,Lisa Loring,Adam West and Constance Towers,I was surprised(as were a lot of people)that when she did soe of her scenes on "Capitol",she did them from a wheelchair. She was a great actress, and never showed that she had anything wrong when she was doing "The Addams Family" and "Capitol"."Capitol",to me,WASN'T the same without her.

Here is a photo of Carolyn with her Capitol co-star, Constance Towers (most recently Helena on GH):

I saw Carolyn's Biography episode too, and apparrently, she was very, very excited to do Capitol. She loved Morticia, but she wanted to become a household name as someone else, too, and she loved doing a soap.

It's so unfortunately that she passed before she could really make an impact on daytime.

It would've been great to see her make a great big splash in daytime. I took an old soap book out of the library once and saw these big color pics of her in Capitol. Having only known her as Morticia, I didn't even recognize her!!

I have seen it's 2 or 3 episodes.
It was not that good to be watched regularly.
