Trying to remember another case... - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Trying to remember a case here. My memory of most cases I have seen only once is usually better than this. As I watched UM on Lifetime often, I think it's safe to say this case was not aired very much.

The case involved a (I think) wife and husband. The man was killed in their home late one night. The wife said it was an intruder, but there was evidence that she may have been the killer.

I feel that this was a newer case, possibly a CBS or even a new Lifetime version. At the very least it had the newer look to the film that the later episodes did (why I remember that and not more details, I don't know).

Also, I feel for some reason that this case took place in the Southwest. Anyone have any ideas?

Another thing is that the crime was committed with a gun. There was also some odd detail being brought up about the gun. I really wish I could remember more. It's frustrating.

I do remember a case somewhat like this. The husband and wife were coming home late from somewhere (cant remember where). The husband was a cop. Anyway, the husband went in the house first while the wife and child stayed behind in the car. No sooner than he walked in, gunshots were heard. The husband was shot dead. The wierd thing about it was that one of the investigators at the scene made a comment about the look on the guy's face as if he was surprised at whoever it was that shot him. Unless new developments came up in this case, I don't think the wife was ever ruled a suspect.

I wish I could think of this cop's name. It was one of the cases featured on Crystaldawn's dvds.

He was Deputy Sheriff Charles Robert Anderson. He was murdered in January 1987.

I don't recall any specific mention in the segment about the wife being considered a suspect (or even a person of interest). But I recall from the segment that she'd had some physical issue (a back injury, if I'm correct), which explained why she waited outside while Charles brought their young son into the house.

I don't know if this is the case you're actually referring to, Guardian, but it was shown during the 1993-94 season.

Do you remember which one? I remember the segment, faintly, but I watch CD's dvds AT LEAST weekly and I haven't seen that segment in a looooong time.

I would agree it sounds like the Charlie Anderson case. A very interesting theory about this case is that it may tie into another UM segment - the Final Appeal of Dan Montecalvo. I have read the book about the Montecalvo case and I believe a nearby drug addicted neighbor of theirs was responsible for the murder. The book also mentions that just a few blocks away from the house where Carol Montecalvo was murdered was Charlie Anderson's case and some people think the same drug addicted neighbor may be responsible for his murder as well. She is mentally ill though and really can't believe the things she says unfortunately.

I had forgotten about that case but have since reviewed it to be certain. It unfortunately is not the case I am referring to. The case I am referring to, the man was killed almost right inside the doorway of the home. I feel kind of dumb that i can't remember more detail about this, but I know for a fact that it was UM. Up until just the last year or so, that was really the only true crime show I ever watched.

In the segment, the wife or girlfriend (which ever she was) seemed very guilty to me when interviewed. They showed a couple of reenactments of the different theories of what happened and i am pretty sure a gun was involved. For some reason the gun really sticks out to me. There was something odd about it in the way of evidence. Also, if i remember correctly, in the reenactment, there was a vesterbule (not sure if I spelled that correctly) of sorts in the inside of the house.

As i am typing this, I can remember vague images from the reenactment, but not enough to describe in detail. One of those weird things where if I saw the segment again, I would instantly recognize it. I hope somebody on here can help. This is driving me nuts.

Also, I could be wrong, but the talk of "neighbors" in one of the replies got me thinking a little more. I am thinking that the wife may have been having an affair with either a friend of the victim, or a neighbor. The neighbor may have also been a suspect. It also seems that for some reason I had the impression that the area they lived in was not the most wealthy or crime free area I had ever seen.

Could it be the Charlie Sigmin case? He was estranged from his wife Ann Sigmin. Ann lured him over to her house late one night with threats of suicide. Charlie had even thought of bringing a gun but decided not to and told his friends before he left "I may be getting set up here". Charlie went to see Ann and her boyfriend Gary Goff was also there. Charlie ended up getting shot numerous times and killed and there was also a bloody iron at the house. After some investigation police determined it wasn't self defense as Goff had claimed and he eventually turned himself in and received a prison sentence. Ann Sigmin is still on the run and wanted for his murder. Btw Ann Sigmin also was a satan worshipper and this was mentioned in the segment and appeared to be a main reason she and Charlie broke up.

Very doubtful. Guardian mentioned that the segment in question featured an interview with the victim's wife/girlfriend. The Charlie Sigmin case had no such interview since Ann Sigmin was on the run at the time of the segment's broadcast during the 1988-89 season.

If you saw it on Spike, then it's a good bet that the case is listed at the official UM website (unsolved.com), probably under "Murder" or "Unexplained Death". Looking for it at the website (if it is listed there) might be your best hope putting the nagging uncertainty to rest.

No, Guardian was referring to the Sigman case as the one seen on Spike, recently. Not the one we're trying to figure out.

Or at least that's how I understood it.
