TV Joanne Kelly and Eddie McClintock Preview "Warehouse 13" Season Two

Syfy Stars Joanne Kelly and Eddie McClintock Preview "Warehouse 13" Season 2
by Mike Moody
posted Jul 6th 2010

"Warehouse 13" is back for another season of Tesla-blasting, ferret-chasing, and artifact-hunting action. Season 2 of the Syfy series kicks off tonight (9PM ET) to answer the burning questions left by last September's cliffhanger finale.

Will Artie (Saul Rubinek) return?

Will Claudia (Allison Scagliotti) clear her name? Will Roger Rees head back for another go-around as baddie James MacPherson?

And what about that new villain we've been hearing about?

We asked series stars Joanne Kelly and Eddie McClintock all of those questions and more.

Season 1 of "Warehouse 13" was a hit for Syfy, earning big numbers and loyal viewers with every episode. Joanne Kelly, who plays Agent Myka Bering on the show, knows that the pressure is on for season 2 -- and she says the writers, cast and crew are up for the challenge.

"I really think that everybody is stepping up to the plate, because everybody wants to deliver a great show because so many people supported us last season," she told TV Squad.

"We want everyone to love this season and I think we're on the right track. I don't want to speak too soon, but I am really happy with the show this year. It's really great. The writers have outdone themselves."

Season 2 is "gonna blow everyone's mind," Kelly promised.

"I think last year we really found our legs, and we kind of figured out what worked and what didn't," she added. "The writers have really been hitting it out the park this year. I'm really excited and I'm thrilled for our audience, because I think they're really going to enjoy season 2."

But what about that cliffhanger?

We're pretty sure that the irreplaceable Saul Rubinek will return as Artie this season, but will the show address his ... er ... unique predicament in the premiere episode?

"He's such an important part of the story, so yes, of course we'll deal with it," Kelly said. "The first episode will deal with it, so there will be no 'Lost' effect! We'll answer a lot of questions. Everything from the cliffhanger will be answered."

Questions concerning the mysterious warehouse and its place in America's history will also be answered this season.

"The Warehouse is so much of an entity in its own right. It's a character in the show and we really go into some of that this year," Kelly said. "We're gonna learn a lot about the Warehouse and its past and its history, and I'm super excited about that."

Kelly is also excited to be working with Rees again.

The TV vet returns this season to "rear his head once more," as Artie's nemesis MacPherson, she said. But, according to McClintock, who plays Agent Pete Lattimer, the Warehouse crew will also go up against a new super-villain this year.

"There's a new super-villain to take his (MacPherson's) place, and it's so ingeniously thought out," he told TV Squad in May.

"When I read it, I thought it was so perfect for sci-fi fans. I think that although the scripts were strong last year, because they [the writers] have had more time to figure out what the show is, this year's scripts are really mind blowing. We've read a few and heard the concepts, and it sounds like it's going to be pretty cool. I'm excited."

Kelly said the most exciting thing for her about season 2 is getting to watch the characters grow and become more like a family.

Last year, the central characters started to bond as MacPherson terrorized the Warehouse and zeroed in on Artie. This season, she said, those relationships are key to the show.

"We see these people in season 1, especially Artie and Myka, who were all very isolated, but you could kind of see almost a family forming. I think that continues in season 2, and you see these people grow and learning more and more about each other and really getting to know one another.

They respect each other. And like in any family, there's fighting and all that stuff, but I really think the relationship are the heart of the show, and we explore them a lot in season 2.
"

The major players will also get to interact with a number of new characters and guest stars this summer, including "Firefly" vets Gina Torres, Jewel Staite and Sean Maher.

Lindsay Wagner and Tia Carrere will also appear in upcoming episodes along with Neil Grayston, who plays Douglas Fargo in a "Eureka" crossover episode airing August 3.

What else can fans expect from season 2?

"It's just gonna be bigger and better," Kelly said. "Hold on, man, because it's gonna be a crazy ride this year."
