Episode - "Please buy My Violets" (1963) - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

This was a good early episode from season one black and white about Uncle Joe's recent "get rich quick"scheme to be the "midwest distributor for Lord and Lady Violet Cologne and Spray".Plenty of good gags in this one,and a very funny scene when Joe goes over to pig farmer Fred Ziffel's.And the ending is good,too.Score 8/10.Good-to-Very Good It's too bad some of the later shows( those WITHOUT Bea Benaderet as Kate )couldn't be as funny as the early episodes were.

he "went over to Fred Ziffels"? Are you sure it was Ziffels? Because I think "GREEN ACRES" was the first time they showed the Ziffels.

Yes,I am 100% sure.I have "Petticoat Junction:The Ultimate Collection",and on it is that episode.The SAME actor(the late Hank Patterson )who played Fred Ziffel on "Green Acres"plays Fred Ziffel here.Fred,along with Doris,and,yes,Arnold the pig,made their FIRST appearances on "Petticoat Junction "(the black and white episodes),and THEN went to "Green Acres".

oh, I always though their first appearence was on "GREEN ACRES".

Nope, plenty of characters better known from Green Acres were supporting characters on Petticoat first.
