Since TV Land and Nick at Nite's programming is so similar already, I think it would make sense to merge the two networks into one 24 hour network. I would call it NickRewind. The network would air classic programming (50's, 60's, 70's, and some 80's) from 6 AM-8 PM and modern programming (80's, 90's, and 2000's) from 8 PM-6 AM. The new NickRewind network could air Nick at Nite's most popular shows i.e. The Nanny and George Lopez along with TV Land's current shows. Nickelodeon in turn would become a 24/7 network for kids. What are your thoughts?

I think that would be a great idea, but I'd do 6PM-6AM or so for newer shows since there would be quite a few. Remember, The Nanny is moving to TV Land in August, so except for a few shows (Chris, G. Lopez, Family Matters), there isn't much difference.

Actually, why bother? I think they should just both fold.

I think it's a pretty interesting, and good, idea. It would just be weird to not have Nick at Nite on Nickelodeon. If they did merge, let's say, then why shouldn't Nickelodeon and Nicktoons merge? The whole purpose of having these various Nickelodeon/Viacom entities seems to be for the chance to tune in to similar programming on different channels. Otherwise, the argument could be made that Nick Jr, Nickelodeon, and Nicktoons could merge. Merge MTV and TeenNick, etc.
Good idea though and it would be cool if they did that. |

I don't think they should merge, leave it how it is since N@N seems to focus on the family shows. TV Land tends to be all the place and never know what what will be on their channel from one month to the next.

It'd be pointless, they are two separate entities and should stay that way

No, they shouldn't merge. They should show decent programs.

I'd love to see MTV/MTV2/VH1 in one channel, NickToons, Nick Jr. and Nickelodeon in one channel....there are just too many. The MTV ones are all the same thing. It's ridiculous. Not sure about TeenNick, do many people even get it? I think TV Land and NAN both have some great shows, and having one destination for all of those would be good. |

I think cable tv is still viable, but got out of hand in the late 90s and early 2000s with all of these new channels. Channels like USA, TBS, Nick at Nite TNT, TV Land, Hallmark, Discovery, Comedy Central, FX, ESPN, etc are still very good ideas and are mass appeal, but IMO: MTV, MTV2, VH1 - MTV or some channel with a new name NickToons, NickJr, Nick should become Nickelodeon Disney XD should merge with Disney TV Land, Nick at Nite, and TeenNick to TV Land, their shows would all fit well Planet Green/Science Channel/Millitary/Investigation Discovery should be Discovery 2 with some of it going to Discovery Sleuth, SyFy and Chiller should combine I don't think the last 2 sets of channels I mentioned even do that well. Sure would cut back on clutter. |
