Default My Coworkers made fun of me for buying season 1 yesterday but I can care less-lol

Time to turn the clock back to 1989 and enjoy a long day of uncut season 1 episodes of Family Matters today. Time to crack open the DVD and make a new discovery since I don;t remember watching this show on ABC in 1989, my earliest memory is 1991

So in your opinion, you feel Urkel revived Family Matters?

Steve was not nerdy around Eddie, Rachel, Harriet, and Grandmom Winslow.

he was only nerdy when alone with Carl or Laura

That MAY be true, but most of the show became based on Steve, Laura and Carl.

Default The first season of the series...

...was a lot like the first season or so of "HAPPY DAYS"- until "The Fonz" virtually became the "center" of that series by the fall of 1975. Same with "Urkel": once producers saw, from his initial appearance, how popular he was with the studio audience and viewers, he began appearing more until HE, like "Fonzie", became the unofficial star of the show. And as for your co-workers, 'Fact'- let 'em get their own DVD box sets, and you can snicker at theirs! What did they expect you to see- "THE OFFICE"? "CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM"? "SEINFELD"? "MUTUAL OF OMAHA'S WILD KINGDOM"?

Well, even if you don't like him, you have to admit, that Steve was the one, who made this show memorable. So yeah, he gave this show, which wasn't bad without him either, but nothing special, a well-needed boost.
