Default Small Wonder S2 - Small Disappointment

There are on screen warnings about the masters used, and the warnings are really needed! Season 1 was everything this season isn't. While I'm grateful to be able to watch these episodes again, there are several of them which have glaring video problems, and some with low audio. Gone are the great commentaries, also. Obviously, they didn't have the resources to put into this release...

You have to remember that Small Wonder was made on a very small budget plus I'm guessing the studio didn't make it a priority to make sure the masters were stored in the best possible way.

My set arrived on Friday and I have watched the first 2 episodes.

I am not too concerned about the change in packaging though miss the original airdates being listed and the first disk at least is held in a bit too tight.

It's a shame there are no promos (I assume they are out there).

Picture quality is sometimes like VHS. It's like this set had no clean up budget and I would imagine that all four seasons would come from the same source.

I am sure someone said the distributers were not happy that season 1 did not sell well which seems odd as season 2 has had such a quick release. Anyone buying Night Court knows how slow that release has been with no word on season 4.

Is this what Shout do; make a show that doesn't sell well an exclusive release just for them? if so, at least the show is getting released. i wish Warners did the same with Night Court.

Yes. That's exactly what Shout does with titles that don't meet their sales quotas. They release subsequent seasons as Shout Select releases. These are bare bones releases with no extras, no commentaries and cheap packaging. But the good thing is that Shout has a very good record of releasing all seasons of a title once they've started with it.

treasurehunter55 is the official supplier for Shout Factory through Amazon. I bought Season 2 as well as My Two Dads Season 2 through them and had no problem. The seller never sees your credit card info it is all handled through Amazon.

The other thing about Shout Select releases is that they're not available in stores. You have to buy them directly from Shout Factory or else hope that a vendor on Amazon or E-Bay will have a copy for sale.

The main private seller is directly affliated with Shout Factory, so Shout is essentially giving you two ways to buy the online exclusives.

I was just going to ask that. Nothing mentioned on TVShowOnDVD so not looking good. Shame as they have now released half of it.

By the way, did they ever do a Christmas episode? I have season 1 and 2 on dvd but not to hand so am unsure.
