I think it's a pretty good show. It's better than a lot of the current sitcoms on the regular networks.

Even if that's true, that's still not saying very much about HIC at all. . . . .

Default Most of the first season of "HOT IN CLEVELAND"...

...would be "forgettable" without one key ingredient: Betty White. Every time she opened her mouth, she got a laugh. No one, including TV LAND, knew that she would be the series' "sparkplug"- or that it would "take off" the way it did. That's why I believe season two will be much better: now that the writers know "which way to go", things will definitely be "funnier", and there will be some changes, to the point where people will look back on the first six episodes, and wonder, "Did this show really start out that way?".

My thing about this show is that the pilot really didn't explain why they left LA for Cleveland. Wasn't it because Valerie Bertinelli's character like John Schneider's character? OK, he was gone after the pilot episode though. It just doesn't make sense why the Jane Leeves and the other chick's characters stayed. Am I the only one who doesn't get it.

Frankly, I think that with each episode, the quality goes down with the writing.

Thanks for posting all the wonderful pictures! Can't wait for the second season to start and see which guest stars will show up.

You must have seen either only a few minutes of the pilot or a heavily edited verison. In the premiere pilot episode Melanie (Valerie's character) is in the middle of a divorrce from John's character. Melanie along with Joy and Victoria (Jane and Wendie) leave LA and head for Paris. While on the plane Melanie spots her soon-to-be exhusband with a younger woman. There is bad weather and they have to make an emergency landing in Cleveland Ohio. While there the women find that men their own age find them attractive and are nice to them. Whereas in LA it's all about youth and looking perfect and thin.

Melanie rents an apartment which comes with an old, feisty, caretaker Elka (Betty White). The three women decide to spend a month in Ohio. They decide to stay longer though because the atmophere seems so much better to them. Victoria is a former soap star that was on a show for 27 years straight. Joy plucked eyebrows for celebrities including Oprah.

Why waste your time posting on this board if you don't like the show?
