O'BRIEN Vincent J. 91, of Haworth on June 19, 2010 died at home surrounded by his beloved family.Born in New Britain, CT. to James and Marguerite Crean. He is survived by his adored wife Delphine (nee Force) whom he shared his life with for 60 beautiful years. His children; Mary O'Brien, Vince and his wife Toni, Conal O'Brien, Liam and his wife Gina and Dominic O'Brien, and his predeceased children Miriam, Molly, Mercedes, Anthony and Austin O' Brien.He also leaves his brother Charles and his beloved grand children Connor, Aidan, Cataleen, Jesse, Gabriel and his loving great- grandchildren Selrna, Jasmine, Juan and Cesar.Vince's occupation was acting, his career spans 60 years of stage, screen and television. He studied drama and graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1949. He performed his first professional stage roles at the Canton Show Shop in CT during the late 1940's. He was on Broadway in hits such as Promises, Promises, Leave it to Jane, Advise & Consent, and Are You Now or Have You Ever Been. Vince worked in summer stock and in regional theatre as well, including the Playhouse on the Mall in Paramus NJ where he worked with Robert Ludlum. Among his other stage credits were his one man show "Clarence Darrow".Vince's television career began in the early 1950's as part of the cast of Studio One. He played more than 300 roles on television over the next 50 years. His most recent television role was that of Judge Franks on Law & Order. His film career includes memorable roles in "The Hoodlum Priest", "Annie Hall", and "Quiz Show".Vince's last performance was at the Ivoryton Playhouse in CT, where he reprised the role of "the old actor" in his favorite musical "The Fantastic's". his final line from this magical performance provides a fitting epitaph to his long career as he asks the audience, "Please, remember me in light."Funeral will be Wednesday 9:15 AM from the Frech Funeral Home, 161 Washington Avenue, Dumont, followed by a 10 AM Mass of Christian Liturgy in Sacred Heart RC Church, Haworth. Interment George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Paramus.Family will receive friends Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM If so desired, donations may be made to Spectrum for Living, 210 Rivervale Rd. Ste.
