Actor Dean Winters says he's back--one year after technically dying from bacterial infection and losing digits to gangrene. It's been a tough year for Winters, who plays Liz Lemon's beeper-loving, selfish ex-boyfriend on "30 Rock," reports the New York Post's Page Six.
A year ago in June, Winters collapsed at his doctor's office from a fever caused by a bacterial infection. As an ambulance carried him to a hospital, his heart stopped beating for two-and-a-half minutes, the article reports. The paramedics got his heart beating again, and Winters spent the next three weeks in an intensive care unit. But he then developed gangrene, and needed to have two toes and half a thumb amputated, the report says. He's needed 10 operations, skin grafts and a technique that took forearm muscle to rebuild his hand. Despite all his health problems, Winters says he's back at work--after losing out on a role in ABC's "Happy Town," right before his near-death experience--and will be starring in an Allstate Insurance campaign that begins this week, while Tina Fey, the creator of "30 Rock," used him in the show's finale, the report notes. "I had casts on both arms, and another on my foot, which was kept off-camera. And she literally had me propped up on a stool," he says. http://www.nypost.com/p/pagesix/rock...673W9mg08N2ZpL |
