One of Porchlight's members Carl has created the most flexible and searchable database I have ever seen. Truly. Take a look, move your cursor around, note that photos and case files appear without clicking. All cases are connected to the Porchlight message board for all additional information on any case. Each column can be sorted, or searched. And more than one can be searched at the same time...collapsing the list of possibilities. There remains, of course, thousand of cases that need to be added to make it truly as useful as it should be...but we have begun. Thanks Carl...you are my hero! There are currently over 1600 cases on the databases with more being added every week. |

While it is always great to have new sites, I'm pretty sure I've seen this one before. Also, I tried just the first two listed here http://www.unsolved.com/missing.html
and they aren't in there. |

Give us a little time to get if fully populated and then see what you think of it. Also, if anyone has a case they would like to see loaded right away, just let me know and I will format the case immediately. Meanwhile, what do you think of the way you can navigate around the database? Aren't the popups great instead of paging thru to get to a case? The columns are searchable and sortable, with multiple search terms. Each one chosen will just collapse the list leaving only the possiblities showing. I don't know of another database like it, and I have been working missing persons cases for thirty years....long before there was an internet for that matter. My first "database" was index cards in a small metal box. We have come a long way baby. |
