Thumbs up Hot in Cleveland is HOT

'Hot in Cleveland' is TV Land's most-watched ever

Betty White's string of buzz-making TV appearances continues. TV Land's first original sitcom "Hot in Cleveland" got off to a great start Wednesday night, drawing 4.8 million viewers with its debut telecast. That makes the comedy, co-starring White, the most-watched telecast in the network's history. The debut also beat the premiere for TBS' new summer sitcom "Are We There Yet." "Hot" is about three friends from LA who relocate to Cleveland, renting a house from a feisty caretaker (White). Show drew mixed reviews from critics.

I agree!

Although the real test will be to see if HIC can maintain most of its audience in the coming weeks.

I believe it will, Betty is really popular right now. The encore show did well too.

The debut of "Cleveland" also boasts a 1.9 rating and 2 million viewers among TV Land's adult 24-54 demo, and even stronger rating among women 25-54 with a 2.4.

[UPDATE:] Viewers couldn't get enough of Betty White apparently because the encore presentation following immediately after the premiere still drew 2.4 million total viewers, and among adults 25-54, 1.2 million viewers and a 1.1 rating. Among women 25-54, "Cleveland" attracted a 1.4 rating and 727,000 viewers.

'Hot in Cleveland' attracts record ratings for TV Land
by Lynette Rice

The debut of Hot In Clevland posted record gains for TV Land on Wednesday, attracting 4.75 million viewers and posting triple-digit gains on the night across all key demographics. It was the most-watched telecast ever in the network’s history. The comedy starring Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and Betty White earned a 1.9 rating and averaged 2.0 million viewers among the network’s target adults 25-54 audience and also averaged 1.3 million among Women 25-54.
Hot in Cleveland is filmed in front of a live studio audience and revolves around three best friends who arrive in Cleveland on a fluke and end up making it their home.

I wasn't going to watch because the show was being compared to Sex and The City (I loathe that show). I watched and thought is was good enough to add to the DVR. It's really a decent show and I didn't feel like I wanted my 30 minutes back.

If I had cable...I'd be watching this show! (Okay, I'd watch it because it has the word 'Cleveland' on it)!

Here's week 2's ratings. It dropped alot but it's still doing good.

http://tvbythenumbers.com/2010/06/24...ter-more/55279

TV Land’s Hot in Cleveland dropped to 3.37 million viewers from its premiere’s 4.8 million viewers and a 0.9 adults 18-49 rating from the premiere’s 1.2 rating, though TV Land made it pretty clear in its press release that it’s targeting the 25-54 demographic. That 3.37 million viewers is still nearly 3x the viewership of anything TV Land had on its schedule the week before HiC premiered.
