Default BAD TRADER ALERT: Bigcvideos

Hi folks,

It is with some debate and a bit reluctantly that I have to post a bad trader alert against Carl H. aka Bigcvideos.

I sent my end of a trade to him back in around the holidays, and he never sent me my discs in return.

He stayed in touch with me, letting me know he had family emergencies pop up and his workload. I told him to take his time. That was almost half a year ago.

He kept sending emails to update me. First it was that my discs were ready but he was away and would mail them when he got back. Next, it was he lost them somewhere in his home but will redo them. Then it was he adopted his niece and nephew. Then it was he was working overtime. But all the while, he stayed in touch. Which I was fine with, even though I very much wanted my end of the trade.

The last email I got from him was in April, where he said that he had time off and would have them off to me that following week. Then in May, I wrote him to ask if he ever sent them. I never heard back and have since written him several times.

Since he and I are both on Yahoo, I see automatically when any other Yahoo person logs in and out. He logs in several times a week, so I know he is still around. But he won't return any email.

As a member of the trading community, I thought it ultimately the responsible choice to let folks know to be aware.

Thanks, VIDeoJoe

thanks for posting, it is always helpful to have information like this.

yeah, the many excuses and logging in but not answering sounds fishy to me. occasionally, contingencies do pop up, but this many seems unlikely.

what was it he was supposed to have sent you? perhaps someone here has it and an arrangement can be worked out.

also, have you contacted the moderator?

Hey Wiseguy,

I haven't contacted any mods primarily because I am resigned to the fact that Carl isn't going to send his end of things, and as long as I've been trading I have come to the realization that sometimes this sort of thing will happen.

The reason I made any sort of fuss about it was so that other traders like yourself could be aware.

As far as what the trade was for, here it is:

1 - Gobots – 5 episodes w/o/c (1 disc)

2-6 - Private Benjamen 11 episode's ( 5 disc's more than half of these are w/o/c also includes an episode of mork and mindy w/o/c, disc's five in this set is full of shows series premiere's of gimme a break, up all night, Archie bunker's place, Joanie loves chachi, police squad, one of the boy's, and several others all original airing a few with commercials)

7 - Abc thruday night movie: 1987 alien w/o/c ( has tail end of the sitcom charming)

8 - The Mary Tyler Moore show – 9/3/77 “The Last Show”
rebroadcast w/o/c

9 – 10 - Mork and Mindy Animated Series - 22 Episodes (B-) (2 DVDs)

And then several discs worth of RFD-TV programming including Ralph Emery Live.

It wasn't a big trade, but it was the principal of it. And in the case of the RFD-TV, I did a three for one trade, so for every one disc he made, I sent him 3 discs.

I am sure that many folks have those first 10 discs in their collection, and I would be happy to trade for them. And if anyone has RFD-TV, I would love to be able to get Ralph Emery Live taped, and I would still offer the 3 discs for 1 on that.

Thanks Wiseguy for your concern!

Best, VIDeoJoe

I had the same problem with Carl. We arranged a trade last October, but his problems came in November. He last contacted me with an update on January 1, and I've, honestly, forgot all about it until now.

Yeah, I wasn't really worried about it until the communication stopped or each update was proceeded with no discs.

As an update to everyone, I just got an email from Carl. He said that he sent it out to me April 28 (yet he never told me he sent them, nor did he ask if I got them okay). Obviously, I never received anything, otherwise I wouldn't have posted about it here.

He says that he is going to redo them (this would now be the third time of making them) and get them off right away. I will keep everyone posted as to the outcome.

He e-mailed me today, as well, saying it'll be two weeks before he can send out my discs. Likewise, I'll keep everyone posted.

Hi folks,

Wanted to give everyone an update regarding Carl H aka Bigcvideos. He sent me an email on Sunday, June 20th to say that he dropped my discs in the mail that day. I waited all week. Nothing came. I contacted him at the end of that week and asked him how he sent them off on a Sunday. He said he just put a bunch of stamps on it and dropped it in the mailbox.

The problem with that is twofold. One, he claimed to have sent a package off in April that never arrived. If that's true, why would he send a second package off, guessing the weight by putting on a random amount of stamps, and then not put Delivery Confirmation on it? Especially if his trading reputation mattered to him.

Well, here we are July 1st, and still nothing. I have serious doubts that either package was ever sent and even more doubts that I will ever end up getting my discs.

I think when one considers the facts I laid out at the start of this thread, coupled with what anglemark10 has added, the picture is pretty clear that it's a series of excuses and then, if true, bad decision making.

If my discs ever show up, or if Carl H. ever makes good, I will let everyone know.

Best, Joe aka VIDeoJoe

I must be lucky or something because the Post Office has delivered every one of my packages, everytime. I guess some people just have rotten luck.

I don't have much of an update except to say that I've heard nothing from Carl since my last post.

I did have a trading friend on another board state that she asked for 6 or 7 replacement discs from Carl, because the discs didn't work. She got no discs and no response. Said she wouldn't trade with him again. So that's 3 complaints.

Yeah at this point I think other traders out there would be smart to steer away from dealing with him. And sadly, I think that he is probably done trading anyway.

When a guy gets 'over his head' in just squaring a small trade with someone like anglemark10 or replacing a mere half a dozen discs for your friend wiseguy182, it boils down to the action, or lack thereof, speaking for itself.

As I mentioned before, I have no faith in ever getting my discs, nor do I seek a moderator trying to help. I think that Carl H. aka Bigcvideos knows the score when it comes to what he owes people and how he has made excuse after excuse. It obviously doesn't matter to him. If it did, he would have made haste on people's packages after this latest awakening. He would have put DC on to protect his own rep. And we wouldn't have fallen out of communication with people as he has.

He even told me back on the 25th that he holds out hope that the package he sent me in April will still eventually show up. With that sort of logic, what can a guy do?

Sorry you had such a bad experience w that trader and hope karma evens everything out with a future trade that really rocks.

A small update (observation): Bigcvideos aka Carl H. was last on these board on the 29th of June, just four days ago. Yet he isn't responding to emails.

I think this sheds more light to the fact that all of the suspense that Carl H. has kept many of us in all of this time has less to do with his own personal issues and more with the fact that he's avoiding us.

He will remain a bad trader in my book, and I warn everyone not to trade with him, until I get my discs. And the longer it takes, the more the cement is drying.
