Anyone remebmber this case? Possible unsafe conviction?

I would be grateful if anyone can give me some more information on a case I remember watching on Unsolved Mysteries many years ago. I have always wondered what happened.

The details I recall are: a woman was murdered in her home (she was middle-aged or elderly) and the home may have been set on fire (I am not sure about this point). A young man who lived nearby was arrested. He was found to have a mental age of a child but I think was imprisoned for the crime but still protested his innocence.

Can anyone give me any names / further information so I can find out if this was resolved?

Thank you! It is a shocking case. I am glad he is now free but it took far too long.
