Let's play the character closure game for vanished Three's Company characters - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Someone was saying on another board that there was never any closure to the Chrissy character but I disagree.

Wouldn't the best explanation for Chrissy never returning be

"Her mother medical situation never improved enough for her to return and she decided that her mom could no longer take care of herself"

Isn't that closure?

I think so. Or they could've explained that she met a man while she was back home, got married, and decided to stay in Fresno.

Here's the synopsis of Cindy's final appearance:

Her last appearance is towards the sixth season's end in Janet Wigs Out. When Janet and Cindy go shopping, Janet buys a large blonde wig which, after wearing it frequently, begins to alter her personality, alienating her friends. During a date one evening with a man who did not know Janet wore a wig, Cindy began to mention it, vocalizing only the "w" sound in the word "wig", and Janet reacted by signaling to her with a non-verbal gesture that her date was not aware of it. and Lana left because she thought she lost Jack to Janet and Chrissy. lol

Yea. Except for the camping episode, that was her best scene.

I actually preferred Cindy over Terri, but I guess Cindy was too young and also linked to Chrissy's character which was evident that the show's executives wanted to distance themselves from.

Suzanne Somers didn't play her Thump card right, my guess, she wanted to be the next Farrah Fawcett, which she was well on her way if she didn't get so hasty (she already had countless posters of her and even the show came up with her own doll..no Jack nor Janet figurines that I know of). I'm certain that the show would have been more successful if Somers stayed on and the Ropers time slot was just after TC not moved to another night going up against the then famous LA.P.D., "Chips".

I enjoy watching the legendary Don Knotts, but I equally enjoyed the Ropers when they were the original landlord. Mind you, I enjoyed watching the Ropers with the next door neighbor, nose-in-the-air, Jeffrey Brooks III, his wife Anne and their cute son, David, however, I must say, there was so many story lines and it did seem to get very repetitive which is why I guess they ended after only one and half season (longer than Three's a Crowd btw). I did miss the interaction with the Ropers and rest of the cast from Three's Company.

The executives should have had the Ropers air right after TC and have some appearances from the players spill over from the two shows. From time to time, have the Ropers do a cameo on TC and have the kids (as Helen would refer them as) visit them at their Townhouse. One of my most favorite episode was when Janet and Chrissy was trying to show Mr. Ropers how to dance (Janet just coming out of the shower with a only a towel on after jogging to the Ropers) and Jeffrey peeping in seeing this all unfold. Hilarious!

Too many changes, a poor end to the show's exit.... com'on, Terri moves to Hawaii, Janet gets a quick wedding to some guy, Larry and Mr. Furley, well, left hanging and by the time, Three's a Crowd came about, the transition was too sudden and the charm and magic that made Three's Company so successful was lost to a completely different cast except for the star John Ritter and a different show all together. Goes to show, that it was not just the star of the show, that made it a hit. In TC, it was the complete cast which is what made Three's company so worthy to watch.

In my opinion, I always thought it was Suzanne Somers' over demanding wage dispute that spoiled the show, but in hind sight, it was the executives that should have paid the 3 key players (Joyce, John, and Suzanne) the same wage right from the getgo. It was called "Three's Company" after all, not, "The Jack Tripper show" and none of this scrambling to find another roommate would have to be written.

I still can't get enough watching the reruns, but it's hard not to think, what if things played out a different way. Oh well, that's how it went down and now, all over the world gets to see how great a sitcom Three's Company was then and reruns now.

Man retrogurl, that was some deep stuff.

Eventually what I like to think what happened to the characters: Cindy finished her studies at UCLA, became a successful veterinarian, got married and moved to another city.

Lana after no longer chasing Jack and finding out that the trio have left the apartment decides to give in to Mr. Furley's charms and decides to marry him and together they both manage the apartment buidling after Bart Furley eventually gives Ralph ownership of the building.

Larry after moving out of the apartment and trying to make it in Bakersfield comes back to Santa Monica eventually getting his own car dealership and marrying Greedy Gretchin.
