Movie "Entourage" Movie Script has been Completed

Mark Wahlberg 'Focused' on "Entourage" Movie
June 8, 2010 | By: Scott Harris

Fans of "Entourage" who aren't satisfied with mere half hour doses of Vince, E, Turtle and Drama are waking up to good news today, as executive producer Mark Wahlberg is confirming that plans for an "Entourage" feature film are proceeding full steam ahead.

Of course, anyone who watches "Entourage" knows that in Hollywood, even the best laid plans often go awry, but Wahlberg, who spoke about the project at last weekend's MTV Movie Awards, is convinced that not only will the "Entourage" film happen, it will happen in a big way.

"I am more focused on making that movie than my own films," Wahlberg said in a statement that his agent must have been thrilled to hear.

"I just think we can make a great movie. I think people always wanted it and have complained that the episodes are too short - they've always wanted more. I think we're going to do it. We just have to end strong, and this season is, by far, the best season so far."

Of course, it will still be a while before any film could get going; following the upcoming seventh season, which premieres on June 27.

Wahlberg says that there will be another six episodes next year where they plan to "end with a bang."

How big a bang? Well, no word yet on any actual plots for the potential feature, but Wahlberg says that a trailer where "you see Jeremy Piven and Lloyd waking up in bed together in Vegas" is not out of a question.

And that would be a pretty big bang.

"Entourage" movie update: 'We want it to happen,' says Mark Wahlberg
by Lynette Rice
Dec 7, 2010

More encouraging news for "Entourage" fans who don’t want to say goodbye to Eric, Vincent, Johnny and Turtle when the HBO show wraps next year:

Mark Wahlberg, who exec produces the comedy, acknowledged to EW that he hasn’t stopped thinking about a possible "Entourage" movie and “we want it to happen.

We have one last season left on TV and then it would probably take place after the finale,” Wahlberg said while walking the red carpet for Monday’s premiere of The Fighter.

There are places to go. I’m still here all these years later, aren’t I? My story didn’t end in my 20s.

Wahlberg added one caveat, however: “We won’t make it if we don’t have a good script.

What Will Happen in the "Entourage" Movie?
By Gary Susman
Posted Jul 29th 2011

Worried about how you're going to cope without future adventures of Vinny, Drama, E, Turtle and Ari after the eighth and final season of "Entourage" winds down in a few weeks?

Lucky for you, the makers of the HBO series insist that a feature film is in the works. Beyond that, however, they can't say, since even they don't seem to know any of the details.

According to Reuters, series creator Doug Ellin told the assembled reporters at the Television Critics Association confab in Los Angeles that there will be an "Entourage" feature, but there's no timeframe yet or even a premise.

"We are going to do a movie. It's a question of when and how quick," he said at Thursday's session. "Hopefully we will sit down and come up with an idea."

Executive producer Mark Wahlberg echoed Ellin's suggestion that film plans are far from firm.

"If I had to finance it myself I would do it. I certainly hope that this has a chance to become a feature film. People are always saying the episodes are too short. They want to go on a journey with these guys."

What might happen in an "Entourage" movie? According to Deadline Hollywood, Wahlberg said it might look like one of this summer's many successful raunchy adult comedy features.

"I've been telling Doug, 'The Hangover' is to me very much like 'Entourage,' and look at all the recent success of R-rated movies."

"Entourage" Creator Doug Ellin on When Fans Can Expect a Movie
Aug 19, 2011
by Kate Stanhope

Now that "Entourage" is coming to an end, series creator and executive producer Doug Ellin seems to be moving on. His new comedy pilot at HBO, "40", follows another group of guys living in New York City and struggling with the economy in a way Vince, E, Turtle and Drama never had to do despite the recent recession.

"It's a more mature 'Entourage'. We're losing the wish fulfillment of it. It's real guys who have tried to make the right choices in life and the recession kind of smashed them in the face," Ellin says.

"It became difficult to raise stakes on 'Entourage' because, at the end of the day, he's a rich, great-looking movie star."

Production on "40", however, may be the biggest speed bump standing in the way of an "Entourage" movie — a possibility that series executive producer Mark Wahlberg first talked about in 2009.

The "40" pilot is set to shoot in October, and Ellin says the "tricky part" would be writing an "Entourage" film script if the pay cable network also orders a full season of "40". The film has already generated interest from HBO, as well as several film studios.

"My agent calls me about it every day. He's thinking about it more than me," he says. "I kind of had to take a little break. The interest is still there. I don't know. We'll see."

So what if the "Entourage" movie never hits the big screen? Ellin says he has "no idea" if the series finale will satisfy fans, but at this point, the only critic he seems to care about pleasing is himself.

"The bottom line is that fans and critics have expectations and then they create their own scenarios in their heads," he says.

"If it lives up to that for some people? Great. If it doesn't? I just watched the final episode, the first cut, but it matches my expectations and that's all I can do."

Jeremy Piven On "Entourage" Movie: 'That's the Rumor Right Now' (VIDEO)
by Stephanie Opella
posted Dec 9th 2011

Despite the somewhat underwhelming "Entourage", finale, fans of the show (and the cast themselves) have been clamoring for a post-script movie.

So when Jeremy Piven stopped by "The Talk" to promote his new film I Melt You, the ladies had to ask about the "Entourage" project.

Piven was optimistic but vague about the potential film.

"We're teeed up for a movie that he's facing, which is either to rule the world or to honor his love to his wife."

Just to clarify, Sheryl Underwood asked, "So the movie's going to happen?" and Piven, without giving a solid confirmation, responded in the affirmative. "That's the rumor right now."

When Aisha Tyler then asked Piven if he knew what he was getting into when he first signed on to do "Entourage", he talked about the potential he saw in the role, even though the pilot script only had one scene with Ari.

"There is an Ari Emanuel that represents Mark Wahlberg, so these people exist ... Ari Emanuel is such a powerful guy that lives in such dualities that I was like, 'Wow, if they, if they let this character run a bit, it could be interesting," Piven said.

Here's hoping they let Ari run for about two hours more.

"Entourage" Movie: Mark Wahlberg Says Doug Ellin is Currently Writing Script (VIDEO)
06/18/2012

Since the series finale of "Entourage" aired on HBO in 2011, the cast and creators of the Hollywood buddy comedy have been saying they'd be open to doing an "Entourage" movie.

Monday on "Today", "Entourage" executive producer Mark Wahlberg confirmed that a movie script is in the works.

"Yeah, [creator] Doug Ellin is actually writing the script right now."

EXCLUSIVE: "Entourage" Movie Screenplay Finally Completed by Creator Doug Ellin; Picks Up 6 Months After TV Series Left Off
By Nikki Finke
Wednesday September 12, 2012

The "Entourage" bad boys are almost back. Exactly one year ago, the HBO series ended its eighth and final season with soap opera schmaltz but also a Hollywood cliffhanger: agent Ari Gold as a newly minted studio mogul.

That obviously set up the movie which "Entourage" creator Doug Ellin wanted to write one day. Well, I can now report that’s sooner rather than later:

Ellin is on page 110 of his screenplay and “gonna finish by Sunday (I pray)”, he emails me.

Ellin notes that no one wants to see the movie greenlighted by HBO more than the series’ WME packaging agent Ari Emanuel (the prototype for Gold) and executive producers Mark Wahlberg and Steven Levinson.

Ellin says that Wahlberg keeps promising “to kill me if I don’t write faster. Every time I see him, Mark says, ‘I’ve made 5 movies this year. Get going!

Ellin explains that he first needed time off after spending “10 years of my life” on the TV series that premiered on HBO in 2004. In the meantime, Ellin is under an overall deal at HBO and continued to develop for the pay cable network.

He did an HBO comedy pilot starring Ed Burns that wasn’t picked up. Ellin and his producing partner Jim Lefkowitz also developed another HBO project, the boxing drama Da Brick, with Spike Lee and Mike Tyson and John Ridley.

When Ellin got down to penning the "Entourage" screenplay, he told me he felt “renewed momentum”.

He says his script starts about 6 months after the TV series leaves off.

There are interesting developments about Ari as a studio head, and that’s still the first page for me. But foremost is the friendship between the guys who are still hanging out and going to fun parties, and it continues with the same characters.

Ellin has kept in touch with all the key castmembers: Jeremy Piven (“Ari”), Adrian Grenier (“Vince”), Kevin Dillon (“Drama”), and especially Kevin Connolly (“E”) and Jerry Ferrara (Turtle”) who are two of Ellin’s closest friends. Those "Entourage" actors have been getting other gigs while HBO has been paying Ellin for the script.

HBO brass Richard Plepler and Michael Lombardo have cautioned publicly that they’ve only heard “a very general pitch” and need to read the completed script and make deals with the cast before deciding to go forward.

Ellin is optimistic. “I’m excited. I feel a lot of positive energy,” he tells me. “Everywhere I go, people ask me, ‘Where’s the movie?’

The "Entourage" feature will have similar Hollywood send-ups and snark which have been missing from the HBO sked but also from the TV landscape in general. That’s because it’s tough to write a good showbiz sitcom or dramedy or 120-minute motion picture.

Certainly "Entourage" had its ups and downs quality-wise. I was mixed in my assessment over the years, alternately castigating it for not showing the down and dirty Hollywood, and occasionally praising it for less predictability and more realism.

But with the Jewish High Holy Days coming, I’ll always recall my favorite Entourage episode: the one that had Ari doing business in the temple aisles during Yom Kippur services. (

‘The Return Of The King’ was written by Ellin and Brian Burns.)

And I’m grateful to Ellin for replacing Variety with Deadline Hollywood as the showbiz must-read.

(That Season 6 scene was a shocker when agent Terence says to Ari Gold, “I’ll **** Nikki Finke before I let her affect my business decisions.”)

In fact, Ellin recently emailed: “I have you in a scene currently. The world wants you on camera!

The vast majority of "Entourage" fans want an R-rated movie with an abundance of broads and boobs and cameos by genuine Hollywood bigwigs as well as decent plotting and character arcs. Hopefully, Ellin has written that and more.

So it’s worth repeating the warning I posted a year ago, “Goodbye Entourage as a TV series. Now just don’t come back as an embarrassingly lame movie.
