'Wheel of Fortune' Hostess From Austrailia Dies - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

SYDNEY -- Long-running Aussie gameshow hostess Adriana Xenides died June 7 in Sydney of a rare gastro-intestinal disorder. She was 54.
Argentinian-born Xenides started out as a model at the age 17 and joined Grundy Television's Oz version of "Wheel of Fortune" five years later.

That started an 18-year run on the Seven Network gamer, which at one time earned her a place in the Guinness Book of World Records before she was overtaken by Vanna White in 1992. Her nearly two decades on "Wheel" are still an Aussie record.

Xenides left the show in 1996 but was still a regular on TV with appearances as a panelist on "Beauty and the Beast" and, more recently, as a contestant on "Celebrity Big Brother."
