I am not trying to knock the show itself, but both times Alex fell in love with a girl, it was done almost exactly the same way. The first hate eachother, then slowly realize they like eachother. There was no creativity in the writing for Alex's love life.

Alex Keaton was very smart. He had a lot of knowledge about a lot of subjects. However the one chink in his armor is when it comes to relationships with people and especially romantic relationships. So I'm not surprised at all that both the romances in his life got off to shaky starts and took time to develop into loving relationships.

While I understand Alex was a lot to grasp at first, they should've did something a bit different for each love affair. It just seemed recycled.

I agree. I think relationships were hard for Alex to understand or develop. I remember a scene where Lauren is explaining to Alex that their relationship was at a certain level (using her hand) and she told him that she wanted it to be at a higher level (by raising her hand). Alex then jumped up on the counter and asked her if that's what she meant.

I also remember Alex checking out a bunch of books including a psychology book because he wanted to "see what made her tick."

I totally agree...no imagination! I'm sure most of us could have written better storylines than that!
