Thumbs down "Screech" Chosen As One of the WORST Characters of All Time

Just his name sounds annoying. As the resident nerd and wannabe ladies man on the '90s TV series "Saved by the Bell," Samuel "Screech" Powers gave girls the creeps. He might have had a more endearing legacy had the actor who played him, Dustin Diamond, not amped up the "ick" factor as well. In 2006, Diamond released a too-dirty-to-describe-here sex tape entitled both "Screeched" and "Saved by the Smell."

Just that voice made Shaggy (of Scooby-Doo) appealing by comparison!

If voice is the cause to call someone the worst character, then that honor goes to Fran of "The Nanny."

I don't know who the worst character really is, but I don't agree that it's Screech. What the actor does now, shouldn't have anything to do with what his character was.

No arguments here. And Dustin Diamond is one of the worst actors ever!

I agree. Let's separate the actor from the character. The character of Screech on the original "Saved by the Bell" was not a bad character by any means. First of all he was smart. He got good grades and did most if not all of Zack's homework too! He was also creative. He built his own robot. And of course he provided comic relief which was the purpose of the character in the first place. He was also loyal to fault participating in all of Zack schemes even though it was often to his own detriment and he was often made to be the fall guy. The one chink in Screech's armor was that he was awkward socially. This was particularly noticeable in his relationships (or lack thereof) with the opposite sex. However he was very persistent. Just ask Lisa Turtle! Now when it comes to spin-offs that's another story. In the College Years and on The New Class he was way beyond the age for his voice to changing so the voice thing should have been toned way down. Also they really dumbed down the character of Screech on those shows and made him a bumbling buffoon. A sad fate for Zack Morris' best friend and comic foil!

I know whoever made that Screech character poorly, may have been panicking!

It's crazy Steve was a bigger creep and dork and not to mention a stalker dude climbed up to a females window to kiss her without her consent yet jaleels character is still popular and a role model to millions of fans lol, but anyway the guy that made the screech character is wrong nobody wanted to be a geek with no friends like screech back in the early 90's lol
