What are your favorite Blanche Devereaux moments?
I think mine is when she couldn't stand that Dorothy's lesbian friend fell for Rose instead of her, even though she didn't know what a Lesbian was. ("Wasn't Danny Thomas one?")

I liked the one when she freaked out about her brother Clayton being gay. It was hilarious.
I also liked the one when she fell for the blind guy John. She didn't know he was blind at first and once she found out he was blind, she was devastated. After awhile though she realized she liked him despite his blindness. It was a great episode. I also liked the one with Dorothy's lesbian friend and her reaction to her falling for Rose instead of her. I liked the one when Blanche was devastated when Dorothy was getting all the attention at the Rusty Anchor when she was singing. It was a different side that we didn't see very often. I'm sure I will think of more later.

All the ones mentioned, plus:
When Blanche was trying to write "the great American novel" and had gone without sleep for several days, she called a plastic bag full of egg yolks "little balls of sunshine in a bag." The time Blanche's prison penpal Meryl broke out of prison just to see her! Her reaction when she found out the man in her living room was the escaped convict was priceless! When "Big Daddy" died and Blanche was in denial about his death. She was acting as if everything was fine and then suddenly... she realized it was true and she regretted not going to see her father when he called for her. The Christmas episode when Blanche gave the Girls a calendar called "The Men of Blanche's Boudouir"! There are many, many more of course... |

My all time favorite Blanche moment is in the episode titled The Commitments where she substituted for Dorothy on a blind date with a widower (played by Ken Howard). At the end of the episode Blanche was telling Rose about the date and Rose said "Take it slow. An old-fashioned romance. How does this all make you feel?" Blanche's response is "Like a Lady."
I still get misty-eyed every time I watch that episode...I love the way it shows Blanche's true lady-like innocence and vulnerability. |

Aw, thanks to the person who posted this thread because I just love Rue, Blanche is my favorite GG (then Rose comes next!)
Blanche was very multifaceted that is what I love about her. My favorite Blanche moments, to name a few: 1. When Blanche dates the guy who is a real gentleman and she tries all ways to seduce him, only in the end to realize she likes the way he treats her. I love the last scene of the episode when she tells Rose that (the guy) wants to take it slow and Rose asks how that makes her feel. I love the sweet way Blanche replies "Like a lady." 2. Like everyone here, I love when Blanche writes her novel, every moment from when she says the (egg yolks) are staring at her..but for some reason, I love the way Blanche says to Dorothy "Bye Dorothy, bring me a present." It just cracks me up! 3. Love the episode where Blanche bonds with baby Emily because she sees taking care of her as another chance to be a mom. 4. "Lesbian?!" Need I say more? Rue is fantastic! Fantastic timing! 5. "We are collecting lingerie for needy sexy people." Ha, ha, ha! 6. "I have cheekbones like Miss Christy Brinkley but I don't want that big eyed husband of hers coming after me!" Sorry if I got that wrong, but I just LOVE the delivery of that line! 7. Love the episode from season one where Dorothy is angry with Blanche because she (Dorothy) thinks Blanche is lying about the doctor (Dorothy is dating) coming onto her. I love that Blanche is proven right. 8. Love the episode where Blanche is dating the caterer and at first, she decides they are not a match because he is unrefined, then in the end she discovers how wrong she is. I love that Blanche was so human, sometimes vein, sometimes kind..always funny and a good woman at heart. |

One of Rue's favorites was when she sang "I Wanna Be Loved By You" at the Rusty Anchor. That and the "lesbian" bit.
Like all of the girls, Blanche had so many great/hilarious moments. |

Wasn't there an episode where Rose was dating a midget and Blanche came into the lounge carrying a tray and said "Shrimp" then double backed on herself into the kitchen.

Hi new to the board here but an avid Golden Girls fan!!! I think one of Blanche's greatest moments is in the episode where she dreams George isn't really dead. It gives us some of the only real insight as to why she is so man crazy. She's hoping to replace George
Theres a line where Blanche tells George something to the effect of "Oh those eyes" I've never seen in any man what I see in yours". She also says she never cheated on him. It was interesting to me to understand more clearly why she was such a man chaser. She only wanted what she already had and lost. So sad.
