![]() Limited Edition DVD Box Set All in the Family is an American situation comedy that was originally broadcast on the CBS television network from January 12, 1971 to April 8, 1979. In September 1979, the show was revamped, and given a new title, Archie Bunker's Place. This version of the sitcom lasted another four years, ending its run in 1983. Produced by Norman Lear and based on the British television series Till Death Us Do Part, the show broke ground in its depiction of issues previously considered unsuitable for U.S. network television comedy, such as racism, homosexuality, women's liberation, rape, miscarriage, breast cancer, menopause and impotence. The show ranked #1 in the yearly Nielsen ratings from 1971 to 1976. As of 2008, The Cosby Show has been the only other show to top the ratings for at least five consecutive seasons. TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time ranked All in the Family as #4. Bravo also named the show's protagonist, Archie Bunker, TV's greatest character of all time. ![]() Veteran character actor Carroll O'Connor starred as Archie Bunker, a working-class, very outspoken bigot, prejudiced against everyone and everything not in agreement with his view of the world. His ignorance and stubbornness tend to cause his malapropism-filled arguments to self-destruct. He often responds to uncomfortable truths by blowing a raspberry. He longs for simpler times, when people sharing his viewpoint were in charge, as evidenced by the nostalgic theme song, "Those Were the Days," the show's original title. (In the first pilot filmed, the family name was Justice rather than Bunker). By contrast, his wife Edith (Jean Stapleton) is a sweet, understanding, if somewhat dense woman. She usually defers to her husband, but on the rare occasions when she takes a stand, she proves to be one of the wisest characters. This is perhaps best seen in episodes "The Battle of the Month" and "The Games Bunkers Play". Archie often tells her to "stifle" herself and calls her a "dingbat", but despite their very different personalities, they love each other deeply. NEW for 2010! There are a couple of things that caught my eye about this set. First its a complete series set. This makes me suspicious since only 6 of All in the Family's 8 seasons have ever seen an official release. Second the DVD's are being advertised as region free. Official DVD releases are almost never region free. I strongly suspect that eyeseedvd.com is a bootleg site and I would recommend against anyone buying this set.

Dont knock bootlegs. A lot of my DVD's are bootlegs and they are in great quality. I would suggest checking out this site and contacting people who have bought from there. If they have good things to say then this could be a good place for bootleg video.
However there is the flip side of bootlegs. Some are fly by nights who make videos with sixth and seventh generation copies, and they tend to be sh*t. |

Don't buy into this!! I was screwed for over for $100 a few years back by a site just like this claiming it to be all uncut and complete and they were nothing more then TV Land recodings of LITB. And the "custom artwork" they claim is awful! They gave me of what I thought was a good explaination of how they were able to offer LITB complete and uncut when they weren't yet all released so I, like a damn fool bought their knock off set. It was shipped to me in thin sleeves and the DVDs were jammed into two cracked VHS tape boxes, taped shut. That was their "custom artwork." Oh they did paste the family photo on each DVD. Out of all the DVD's received, two only played and then after time, they stopped playing altogether! It was shipped from China with no return address. I sent them a nasty e-mail from the site where I ordered the joke of a set and of course no one responded....surprise, surprise. So please take it from me, they will take your money and you will receive crap!

That's just the thing, I can't sue them because these sites that get complaints will suddenly change their name and contact info as to protect themselves. They become elusive with no return address, no names, etc. IMO, these sites that offer these "deals" on TV series are all ran by the same crooked scums but happen to go by different names. If I were you I would only buy from places such as Shout who did an awesome job on the Complete series of Leave it to Beaver. I recommend any purchase from Shout! |

Here's a reputable dealer. It's a family business if he doesn't have it it may not be available. I just ordered the complete set of Mayberry RFD.

A few years ago, I bought the complete set of "The Carol Burnett Show" on DVD. It was all 150 of the half-hour edited episodes that have comprised the syndicated version of the show. Got the DVDs only to find they were in poor quality. They were taped off TV Land in the 1990s when the show aired on that network. It was a grainy quality, not satisfied. When I called the place and said I would send the DVDs back but I wanted full credit they hung up on me and a few days later, the phone was disconnected.
If it is not an official release, it is not worth the money not to mention really against the law. |

Mike, you've posted a link to a known bootleg site.
http://tvshowsondvd.com/bootlegsites.cfm Check links against this site before posting them. Do NOT post links to bootleg DVDs on this site, period. |
