Movie Miley Cyrus Would Like to Play "Carrie Bradshaw" in A 'Sex & The City' Prequel

Miley Cyrus is eyeing a high-profile movie role - as a young Carrie Bradshaw in a Sex And The City prequel.

The 17-year-old Hannah Montana star recently announced plans to take a break from music to concentrate on her film career following the release of The Last Song earlier this year - her first major movie role away from the Disney teen franchise.

Now, she wants to showcase her acting talents by playing a younger version of Sarah Jessica Parker's sex-obsessed character Bradshaw in a movie based on The Carrie Diaries - the new book from Candace Bushnell, whose novel inspired the hit TV show.

Asked if rumors linking her to a Sex and the City prequel are true, Cyrus tells BBC radio host Fearne Cotton, "I have never heard that before but I would totally do it. It would be so cool."

BTW, my cousin's wife went to see Sex And The City II last week and said it was..."utter crap."

And this is coming from a huge SATC fan who was looking forward to this movie like you wouldn't believe. She wanted to like it.

So, let's say hypothetically that Miley gets the role. Does she realize she'll have to take up smoking in order to play Carrie?

It's possible that Miley smokes in real life, but I doubt it. Disney would kill her if she were photographed with a cigarette.

You can pretend. You even use what they call "herbal cigerettes".

I had read somwhere years back that in scenes of NBC's 1980s sitcom, Night Court, herbal cigs were used, but I can not locate where I read it at the moment. I think it was mainly on Markie Post, who portrayed Christine Sullivan, when she was once shown smoking in an episode.

And William B. Davis who portrayed Cigerette Smoking Man on The X-Files, quit smoking in the 1970's. And the cigerettes he was seen smoking were actually herbal.

And this goes for other various actors and actresses as well.

So, you don't have to actually smoke to portray a character who smokes.

^ Very true. I read years ago that when the 1998 miniseries The Temptations was being made, Terron Brooks had to pretend to smoke to play Eddie Kendricks (a notorious chain smoker who succumbed to lung cancer in 1992). So Mr. Brooks, a non-smoker, used herbal cigarettes in the movie.

Still, I can see where Disney would be concerned. The lion's share of Miley's fans probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a real or an herbal cigarette if they saw her lighting up on-screen. Of course, Miley is Disney's cash cow, so it wouldn't reflect well on them.

We shall see what happens!!!!

I'm sure a good chunk of Miley's fans haven't even heard of herbal cigarettes.

On their look some brands make them look like "real cigs" with the white paper whereas others make them darker. Another thing is the smell but you have to be in person for that.

For movies/tv they most likely use the ones with the white paper to not "look different". You wouldn't be able to tell just from looking at it whether it's herbal or tobacco.

From what I understood back then, Markie Post was a smoker, so it's possible those were real cigarettes.

Yes, but she had quit long before the epsiode had aired that showed her smoking. The entire cast, well the ones who smoked, did their best to quit after their first co-star had died from lung cancer, Selma Diamond. And then a less than a year later, another co-star had died from yet again, lung cancer, Florence Halop. (And both were heavy smokers)

Markie was a successful quitter, I have read in several places. One of her co-stars, Harry Anderson, was another. But I heard from a friend back when I first got into the show, that sadly he had picked up the habit again after being "smoke-free" for over 20 years. I don't know today if he does or not. I could say yes, since this news ws brought to me about 5 years ago, but you never know.

The episode I was referring to when Markie's character is seen smoking is from Season 8, Attachments Included. Upset with her recent divorce, Christine picks ups some bad habits. (Which, of course only last the one episode)

Now I know I read it somewhere years ago when I first got into the show about the herbal cigerettes, I just can't locate the information right now, but when I do, I'll let ya know.
