Default Favorite "Lost" Moments

These can be either dramatic or comedic or sentimental or all three (though with Lost, you really didn't get a lot of comedy, lol).

Mine are:

1) Jack and Sawyer's conversation at the end of S1 where Sawyer reveals how proud Jack's dad was of him. Very emotional, with the air of fate all around, and a neat way for these two antagonistic characters to bond and bury the hatchet (for a while at least).

2) Jack's power play in Ben's surgery where he holds Ben captive to allow Kate and Sawyer to escape. Tense, dramatic and laced with sadness, this shows Jack's true heroic nature and the depth of his pain at being 'betrayed' by Kate. The end where she cries as she relates the personal story he told her is just shattering.

3) Michael kills Ana Lucia and Libby. A truly shocking and heart breaking moment, particularly since I was just starting to really like the "Libby" character a lot. The fallout from this event was wide ranging and deep and what a shock to see a "good guy" do such a horrible thing (even if it was to save "Waaaaaaaaallllltt!!!!")

4) Desmond finally contacts Penny on the freighter. Was there a dry eye in the house on this one? Two star crossed lovers whom fate has kept apart for years finally speak on the phone and their obvious love for each other keeps hope alive for both of them, and actually saves the life of one.

5) Charlie dies - It was widely reported that Charlie would die this episode but near the end, after Desmond stop having the flashes I thought he had a chance. Sigh. I always liked Charlie; imperfect, insecure, but also funny, charming and generally very good hearted, and in the beginning, one of the core group. His heroic death was a tearjerker, and perfect in its significance. Charlie.

6) The confrontation on the hill between Jack and Ben, Season 3 finale. Two wiley antagonists who were both strong willed, these two squared off over Jack's plan to get everyone off the island (and who can blame him?). The horrible choice that Ben forced him to make was nerve wracking and his rage afterwards at Ben's seeming to kill his friends was understandable and somehow cathartic (who didn't want to do that to Ben at that point?).

7) Locke revealed to the the MIB. I haven't been surprised like that in a long time, and the whole sequence in the statue where Jacob was killed by Ben with the MIB looking on gleefully was so shocking and significant, I had to include it here.

8) The death of Boone/birth of Aaron. Maybe the greatest of all, this early scene really drove home the duality of the show, it's exploration of life and death, in a real way. Poor Boone was a goner and Jack was practically killing himself to save him, while Kate and Charlie and Jin struggled to help Claire give birth. The "life death" musical theme where Aaron is presented to the cast while Jack informs Shannon of her brother's death was happy/sad and just altogether so moving.
