'Community' star Wants to be the First Black Spiderman

Donald Glover is hoping to swing into the role of Spider-Man — with the help of Twitter.

The Community star and a member of the Internet sketch comedy group Derrick Comedy has started a campaign on the social media site to get an audition for Marc Webb's upcoming 3-D Spider-Man reboot. The 26-year-old actor has encouraged friends and fans to retweet the hash tag #donald4spiderman (which also prompted hash tags such as #alisonbrie4maryjane for his Community co-star, Alison Brie). Since Glover's campaign began, a Facebook page has popped up.

"Some people are mistaken," Glover tweeted Monday. "I don't want to just be given the role. I want to be able to audition. I truly love Spider-Man."

The project, which replaced Sony Pictures' plans for a fourth Spider-Man installment from star Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi, will take place during Peter Parker's high school years. Other actors in the running for the role are Josh Hutcherson, Jamie Bell, Alden Ehrenreich, Andrew Garfield and Frank Dillane, according to The Hollywood
