Bobby Driscoll's Lonely Death: A Disney golden boy of the 1940s and 1950s (he's the voice of Peter Pan in Peter Pan), the thirtysomething Driscoll was found dead in 1968 by children playing in an abandoned New York City apartment building. With no I.D. on him, and with no one recognizing him, the onetime star turned heroin addict was buried as John Doe. It would be nearly two years before his parents, and the world, learned of his fate.

It's so sad the Bobby Driscoll died alone and forgotten. And then to be buried as a John Doe. Even in death he was forgotten.

Indeed, what a sad story. I can only imagine the hell his parents went through those two years.

This would be sad even if he weren't a child star. I remember seeing him in a movie called 'The Window', where he witnesses a murder and then is pursued by the killer. He was good in that film. Too bad he couldn't conquer his demons.

What's really sad is that no one seems to have learned anything from the tragic circumstances of Bobby Driscoll's life and death. Many child stars in the generations that followed have fallen prey to the same downward spiral that ultimately claimed Mr.Driscoll's life.
