...was originally intended to be telecast on April 14, 1970, but because of NBC's special "Apollo 13" coverage, the network postponed it (and the following week's episode, "One Jeannie Beats Four Of A Kind") until May, when those episodes were presented in reverse order ["...Four Of A Kind" aired on May 19th]. The series' actual "final" episode, "Hurricane Jeannie", appeared as scheduled, on April 28th. Gabe Dell {"Cousin Arvel"} once told Fred Grandinetti (as quoted in his book, "Still Dreaming Of Jeannie") the episode "was a thrill for me to do, as I'd never done a Texas accent before".

yea, I know that "HURRICANE JEANNIE" was supposed to be the last one (that's the one where Roger and Dr. Bellows are stuck at the Nelsons overnight because of a hurricane, and after Dr. Bellows accidentaly sees Jeanie "doing her stuff" Tony's forced to tell him about her, but at the end it turns out to be a dream he has) but like "TV knowledge fan" said; NBC had to make "MY MASTER, THE CHILI KING" the last one because of their Apollo 13 coverage.
It was originally going to have a different ending though, where it turns out that Tony DIDN'T dream about Dr. Bellows finding out about Jeannie, but when they decide to not make it the finale, they filmed a different ending. BTW, the episode also makes a reference to Apollo 13. |

TV Knowledge Fan correct me if I'm wrong but...the special coverage was an "NBC News Special" due to the Apollo 13 crisis. NBC didn't simply "decide" to air a special on it and therefore the two I Dream of Jeannie episodes' airdates were moved simply due to 'a special'. Again, the special was more of an emergency situation and that's why the two episodes were shown after the series finale, "Hurricane Jeannie." "Hurricane Jeannie" was the last episode filmed and the reason for the episode ending as Tony dreaming Dr. Bellow's finding out about Jeannie is because it was thought that ending would be better when the series went into syndication - not because the other two episodes ended up airing out of the scheduled order. It is a shame NBC didn't air them in order after they aired the news specials. It would be fitting for "Hurricane Jeannie" to be the last episode shown (as it was intended) before starting over with the pilot.
