At least the starting of this thread will make me feel better after I, Zoneboy, and several other Sitcoms Online members tried to war with each other at another thread and I was driven away from watching future reruns or the DVD of Designing Women. They tried to make a point, but also hurt my feelings and deterred me from enjoying my time in this forum. I can't even look at the bad posts they made and I can't even go to the thread itself. I would like to apologise for the dispute and I should have considered contacting an administrator to end the dispute. In this forum I don't have to be belittled and bullied for my fears.

I have now decided that I, my family, and my friends have come to an agreement that there will no further mention of Mrs. Carter's name in our family's household. I have also buried the first three seasons of Designing Women in a time capsule which is not to be opened until closure can be brought to this dispute. And I won't even say a word about Carter herself indefinitely or until Zoneboy and I come to a compromise, especially with an administrator.

Other that all this, I miss you, Dixie Carter, but this will be the last post in which your name is mentioned.

First of all, None of us here belittled or bullied you about your fears. Almost everytime someone passes on with a month or so of their next birthday you start harping about their actual age at the time of death. If I start an obituary thread and the person dies at 85 one day before their next birthday then their age is considered to be 85. You gain a year on the day you were born and stop when you die. Why you can't accept this is beyond me and I personally wish you would stop going on and on about it in the obit threads as these are to offer condolences and to share thoughts and memories, not to nitpick over their age.

Let's get this thread back to it's original purpose. Dixie Carter! I only wish you were still with us.

Technically, your birthday celebrates the year you just ended so you're not gaining a year you're completing one in life. (Not trying to start anything up again, it's just that this caught my eye).

I remember in the 70s there was a 'new age' movement of some sort who believed your age should be calculated by the day you were conceived (which isn't the easiest day to determine, so most people calculate exactly nine months prior to their actual birthday 'to come close'). They believe that the aging process starts on THAT day (since you're alive nine months inside the womb), and therefore should be calcualted as such...to start your 'x' year of living, rather than the day you were born.

A bit weird and confusing, I know, but that was a theory that became quite popular in the mid/late 70s. It didn't last too long (though every now and then I'll hear someone caluclate that way).
