Barbara Cooper married Mark Royer ...

Barbara's mom then marries Mark's dad...

Hence Mark and Barbara are both husband & wife and also step brother and sister. OY VEY!

What was more freaky was when Sam and Ann got married she did not take on the name Royer and kept Romano. I did not like that. I could have accepted as Ann Romano-Royer. or Ann Romano Royer.

Yeah, I didn't like it, either. Tell the truth, as much as I like Bonnie Franklin and Howard Hesseman as actors - I never bought them as a couple, especially since their kids were already married to each other. There was just no chemistry there, and I think if Ann were ever to remarry, it should've been in the series finale.

P.S. I think poor Dr. Johnny Fever deserved much better than Ann "PMS" Romano!!

I always kind of thought that Johnny Fever would get together with Baily Quarters! (even though that would have made me very jealous!! )

But, since Ann and Sam got together AFTER Barbara And Mark married, B & M were husband and wife before they were step-siblings, so I guess their step-status would be null & void. But Mark would be Julie's step brother, as well as her brother-in-law!

Thank goodness Howard Hesseman went on to a much better role on Head of the Class! Pre-WKRP, I liked him in his recurring role as Mr. Plager on The Bob Newhart Show.

This kind of stuff happened on "Guiding Light" a lot in the mid-80's. For example, When HB and Reva were married, I figured out that made Roxie Mindy's great-aunt!
What didn't occur to me until now is that it made Reva Mindy's grandma!

Now imagine if the kiss between Barbara and Max (Julie's husband) had led to something more permanent....
