On "The Dick Van Dyke Show",what minor,one-shot ,one episode only characters DIDN'T you like? My choices:1)That insurance man Mr.Evans in 1966's"Who Stole My Watch" 2)Jellybean,the snail puppet (voiced by the late Paul Winchell)in 1966's "Talk to the Snail" 3)Paula Marshall in 1964's "How to Spank a Star"(she was funny, but a little rude)4)That very rude shoe salesman Sid in 1964's "Young Man With a Shoehorn"and 5)Racy Tracy Rattigan(played by Richard Dawson-His character was funny, but was a bit obnoxious).Any othrs?Feel free to post.

Freddie White, the obnoxious comedian played by Guy Marks in 'Jilting the Jilter'. He was mean! But the episode gave Marks a chance to do his animal impersonation schtick.

I thought the people in the vet's office were not very nice when Rob brought in one of the ducks that was ailing.

And,in the funny episode,1966's "Odd But True",the woman with the duck who was sort of uppity and rude to Laura when she offered the duck some gum.

And in 1965's "You're Under Arrest",that obnoxious old lady who falsely accused Rob of hitting her(she really assaulted herself,if I remember correctly).and was going to hit Laura with her purse.

And in 1963's so-so "Big Max Calvada"from season 3(1963-1964),I did NOT care for Max Calvada(the late Sheldon Leonard),or his gangster brood.

I thought Phil Franklin (Lennie Weinrib) was kind of obnoxious in "The Impractical Joke".

In 1966's not very good "You Ought to Be in Pictures", that producer -old Army buddy of Rob's,Leslie Merkel, who made some rude, not very nice comments about Rob to that Italian actress who was Rob's co-star in the film ."Mr.Merkel"wasn't very nice.He started out pretty nice, but showed his true colors later on.

Gavin MacLeod (whom I like as an actor) played a REALLY annoying salesman (also Mel's cousin I think) in the "Carlotta's necklace" episode. I just happened to catch that one a couple of days ago, either on TV Land or ME-TV (they both air the Dick Van Dyke Show in the evenings). The way he laughed when Buddy said "Shoehorn" was just so stupid.
I agree with some of the previous posts as well. |

Another minor character I didn't like, was that uppity Mrs.Darwell in the 1964-1965 season not bad episode "Girls Will Be Boys."She was the ONLY thing I DIDN'T like about that episode. Her husband and daughter Priscilla were pretty nice, but she wasn't.
