Default Which "Mama's Family" main characters

DIDN"T you like-?A)Mama B)Naomi C)Vint D)Buzz and Sonja D)Ed E)Eunice F)Iola G)Ellen H)Fran ? My choices would have to be E-Eunice (Carol Burnett on the NBC episodes, someone else in the syndicated shows).Eunice acted like a little spoiled brat.

Buzz and Sonja. The show got much better once they left and Bubba came. I don't dislike the first two seasons, though.

I may have liked Buzz and Sonya better if they had been played by different actors. Those two kids couldn't act their way out of a wet paper bag.

I liked Rue on the Golden Girls, but I thought her Fran was whiny and annoying and she treated Mama like a servant.

The rest of the characters were hilarious.

Actually, Carol Burnett was only in about 6 episodes. I think her presence at the beginning of the series was used to help to transition the Eunice/The Family schetches from TCBS to Mama's Family. The character of Eunice was probably too abrasive to be a regular character in a half-hour sit-com. In the Wedding episode, when Ed carried Eunice out that door in her screaming rage, it seemed Eunice and Ed were turning over the reins to Vint and Naomi, to be Mama's major annoyance.

I guess I would agree Buzz and Sonya's portrayals were weak. Bubba was a good relacement for them.

I liked Fran, but it seem the writers didn't know what to do with her. I guess Iola was a good replacement for her. I think it was horrible, the way they killed her off, however. (Choking on a chicken bone???)

And I love Ellen. But of course. Its Betty White, nuff said!

Cool

I didn't like Fran or Ellen. I thought Rue and Betty were both much better on "The Golden Girls" then they were on this show.

Of that list, D, and I liked Buzz much better than Sonya. I'd have liked to see Buzz and Bubba together in the later episodes ... cousins about the same age. Think it'd be an interesting dynamic, plus a good tie between the old and new shows. Really, the last tie between the two was the syndicated episode with Ellen's plastic surgery. After that, it seemed like the NBC shows were "shaken off" for good.

It would have been cool if Eunice came back for the syndicated era, to see Bubba, who was her son!

I never found Ellen or Fran all that likable. Naomi was OK but her shrill shriek could've been toned down considerably.

I never thought Ellen was that likable, but Betty White knocked that out of the park like she always does. I've said on a few other forums that I wish they'd have found a way to bring her back for a few more syndicated episodes.
