Default The CBS TV-movie "Bring Me The Head of Dobie Gillis"

This was another subpar cast reunion(Dwayne Hickman, the late Bob Denver,William Schallert,Shelia James(Kuhn),Steve Franken)movie, that try as it might, never was able to capture things that made the series good.It was good to see the cast again, but nothing-(and I mean nothing)to write home about. And it did showcase the late Bob Denver's singing abilities,as Dwayne Hickman and Shelia James did in the series.Rating-4-Very subpar.

I remember watching this. Not bad as far as these types of reunions go. By the way, Sheila James' last name is Kuehl.

I remember it, too. It was on right before Nick at Nite started showing the series, I remember. I thought it was pretty good.

But my brother however, thought it was "AWFUL" and he said that Bob Denver was "pathetic!"

I actually really liked this movie. As far as reunion movies go, I'd say it was one of the better ones. I felt like it really kept on track with the original premise of the show. I recently made a trade for this on ioffer and am so glad I did. I've watched it once, and may watch it again one of these days soon.

I hope the reunion movie can be included in the complete series set.

I thought it was pretty good for a reunion, it used to air on FMC and I was able to record it.

I hope so too! I do have a copy, but it'd be nice to have it included. I'd also like "Whatever Happened to Dobie Gillis" from the late 70s. I have a very poor quality copy of that, but it would be fun to have everything included in the set.

Didn't know there was 2 movies! Let's hope they were under the same ownership as the series. We have to hope Fox doesn't have the rights to them!

oh yea, I forgot about that first one! As I recall though, it wasn't a movie cause it was only an hour long. But I also hope that both reunions are included in the box set; that'd be GREAT!!

Whatever Happened To Dobie Gillis, was a 1977 pilot, featuring Dobie Gillis now a married adult, with a teenage son. It was just a half-hour and wasn't picked-up for a series.

I hope both this unsold pilot and the 1988 reunion movie are included in the complete series release!

Yes, the 77 reunion is a half-hour sitcom pilot and not a movie. I have a very poor quality copy of it. I enjoy having it as a Dobie fan and collector, but it really isn't very good. Goes against the series in a lot of ways. I love the 88 movie though. Very true to the original series in my opinion. I think it would be great for fans to get both in the boxed set with the series. Although right now I'm just excited to get all the episodes! I wish they'd decide on a release date!

Any explanation of Dobie's parents & big brother Davey in the movie?

I only saw it when it first aired YEARS ago, but I think it was mentioned that his parents had both died. I could be wrong, though.

And I don't remember him having a brother in both the series and this movie.
