Suzanne Stratford Fox 8 Reporter 7:21 PM EDT, May 23, 2010 ALLIANCE, Ohio - An accused enterprising drug dealer does the unthinkable, and applies for a job at the police department. But instead of hearing "you're hired," Lori Furry, 45, was read her Miranda Rights and busted for drug trafficking. Alliance police detectives say undercover narcotics officers already had Furry under surveillance for several months prior to her applying for a position as a computer analyst working on juvenile victim crimes and identity theft cases, in October 2009. Detectives think Furry, a graduate of ITT Technical College wanted access to the police computers so she could monitor drug investigations. After undercover officers purchased drugs from Furry on three occasions, she was brought into the police station for the videotaped job interview. Officers asked Furry if she had ever used or sold any hallucinogens, marijuana, cocaine or PCP, to which she replied, "No, sir." *WATCH WOMAN DENY USING OR SELLING DRUGS IN THE INTERVIEW* Easily the most baffling part of the story, is the fact that Furry then sold drugs to an undercover officer after the interview. Furry also told the officer interviewing her, "I love children, anything to help out our community. I'm scared to death of jail." But jail is exactly where she ended up after detectives served a search warrant on Furry's residence at 1841 S. Seneca Ave., in Alliance. Inside the home police say they recovered numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia and cash. According to officers, Furry told them she had sold her last "stock" of cocaine earlier that day. She was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Cocaine, a 5th degree felony, and misdemeanor Falsification. Bond was set at $3,500. The arrest concluded a 6-month investigation. Furry will be in court for her first hearing Monday, May 24, and additional charges will be presented to the Stark County Grand Jury this week. Another woman, Tracy Mann, of Youngstown, Ohio was also charged with possessing drug paraphernalia. Furry's son, Gary Furry, was also charged as a result of the investigation. Let's hope she doesn't try to be a brain surgeon next.
