Default Will the tv-movies ever be released on dvd?

I thought they would be out by now. I hope they aren't lost.

I hope so, too. I'd like to see them again; they were pretty good even though the house was different. (I think they explained it by saying that Tony & Jeannie had moved) and Tony was played by Wayne Rogers (since Larry Hagman was busy down in "DALLAS")

Default Yes...

...the 1985 and '91 TV movies were set in Houston, Texas instead of Cooca Beach, Florida (even though the first one was filmed in Hollywood, while the second was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada [it was cheaper to film it there]). Larry really wanted nothing to do with both movies; it was decided to "write" Tony Nelson out of the second one by having him "off stage", on a mission in outer space.

If there's enough of a demand, SONY would probably release both on one disc, with some "extras"....

I have fond memories of "15 Years Later" so I'd love for them to release that one. They would probably release both if they decided to go ahead with either of these. I'm surprised they haven't been released yet. What concerned me most was that "15 Years Later" was announced as a bonus feature for The Complete Series set and then dropped. I could see this released as a "Jeannie Double Feature".

I have posted this to other messageboards and never gotten much response from the fans on them (idreamofjeanniefans.com and wedreamofjeannie.com) so I'll see how responsive folks are here

Sony should just forego the headache and cost of producing these movies on DVD (DVD-production, graphics, packaging, storage, distribution and shipping) and make them one-time downloads as you would with music and other movies. Maybe supply some graphics if you just gotta have that package and make your own. Because so many of us have some kind of portable computer these days (be it your average iProduct or laptop) or at the least a home desktop computer, getting your movies this way is not so unheard of any longer.

Sony could charge $5 a pop and still make oodles of money, especially with not having to go through the production and packaging process. Will they do it? Unknown. We have no idea if they have any intention of offering the reunion movies in any format, so it's all speculation at this point.

I continue to see my idea as the most feasible, whether anyone agrees or not

Oh, and I haven't posted here in a very long while, so hello again to whomever remembers

Perhaps that's an indication that they're saving the movies for a separate release. We can only hope!

I Dream Of Jeannie: 15 Years Later was widely anticipated and well received--by fans anyway. The critics were mostly just dismissive, which only proves that it wasn't at all bad. The Monday morning water cooler conversation did not suggest any sense of disappointment.

I Still Dream Of Jeannie
...eh...Barbara still looked good. That's about the only good thing to say about it. I think Bill Daily was quoted somewhere at some time calling the film "wretched". TV critics might tell you that 15 Years Later is only recommended for fans, but I wouldn't recommend Still Dream to anybody.

I remember watching "I DREAM OF JEANNIE: 15 YEARS LATER" when it first aired, but I missed the second one I remember. I don't think Tony was in that one, right? I know Roger was, was Dr. Bellows?

The very first publicity snippet I recall reading for the second movie was that it would concern her search for a new master after her old one dies. They ultimately decided against that, but Tony was not played by anybody in the movie. Hayden Rorke, the actor who played Dr. Bellows, unfortunately had died in the six years time elapsed between the first and second reunions.

Default Sadly...

...Hayden Rorke made his final appearance as "Dr. Bellows" in the first movie {October 20, 1985}- and died less than two years later. The second movie {October 20, 1991} featured Bill Daily, but he was barely seen, as Roger's appearance was reduced to a virtual "bit part" [believe me, he's more angrier about that than the first movie]. I'm not satisfied with the second film, either...apparently, it was rushed into production in the summer of '91, with very little publicity or fanfare. I read that Alan Thicke was supposed to be Barbara's co-star; thank god that never happened!!! [I believe Ken Kerchival got the role instead] That was produced and written by people who had no idea what made "JEANNIE" so special {and Barbara, whose production company, "Mi-Bar", was also involved, should have known better!}.

For me, the download idea wouldn't work. I have no idea how to watch stuff like that on my computer much less burn it to a dvd. I'd prefer a Double-Feature dvd with both movies on one disc (much like Universal did for The Munster movies). Even a Manufactured-On-Demand DVD-r would be great if Sony started some sort of program like Warner Archive.

By the way, have either of these movies been released in any format anywhere in the world. I remember reading that 15 Years Later was released on video somewhere in Europe.

On my first meeting with Bill (I've met him several times), I asked him about the movies. The ONLY reason he did the first one was that he thought it would be fun to get together with Barbara and Larry again. He was bitterly disappointed when he rounded the corner, ran into Wayne Rogers who told him that he was playing Tony Nelson.

Bill came close to turning down the second movie. He only went because of the free trip and accommodations in Vancouver, British Columbia. They had him go to Costuming, who presented him with an Air Force uniform. "But that's not me. I should be in Army." They ARGUED with him. He said he looked at them and said, "I spent five years in an Army uniform on the Jeannie set! I think I know what I'm talking about!" They had to delay filming his part while they sent back to the US for an Army officer uniform and insignia. He did NOT like the 2nd movie at all.
