Eek Teen Arrested on Prom Night for Attacking Police Officers

http://www.fox8.com/news/wjw-news-pr...,3463543.story

LORAIN, Ohio -- A student at North Ridgeville High School was taken into custody for underage consumption after police say she became belligerent and attempted to attack two officers at the school prom.

According to a police report obtained by Fox 8 News, Jessica Halter, 18, of North Ridgeville was arrested after she began swearing at police, before grabbing a chair and swinging it at the officers.

According to the report, the incident took place at a party center in Lorain. North Ridgeville Principal Patricia Bahr tells Fox 8 News officers on duty at the party center were waived over to an area where Halter was being spoken to by school administrators.

According to the report, once the officers arrived Halter began repeatedly swearing at school administrators. Halter was told her parents would be called to pick her up from the prom, and according to the report, she became more belligerent.

Officers attempted to perform a breathalyzer test, which Halter would not take. Several of her friends attempted to calm her down before she grabbed the chair she was sitting on and swung it at police, the report said.

After being told she was being placed under arrest, Halter began smashing her head and face on the back of the chair, causing her nose to bleed.

According to the report, while being taken out of the building and to the officers car, Halter cleared her throat and spit a mixture of saliva and blood on one of the arresting officers. She continued spitting over the inside of the vehicle and tried kicking out the car's windows.

Police say Halter also tried to kick a Life Care paramedic called to the scene to attend to her bleeding nose.

She has been charged with underage consumption, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Principal Bahr tells Fox 8 News the high school has an alcohol use policy, that if a student is found in violation of, carries an automatic 10-day suspension. Halter has yet to have a school disciplinary hearing on the incident.

Oh No

Might have been the whiskey, could have been the gin, might have been the three or four 6-packs I don't know but look at the mess I'm in... tell me, me oh me oh my wasn't that a party. Prom is supposed to be one of the most memorable nights in a young persons life. For this young lady it's going to be memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Booze can do a lot of things to a person, but I don't think it can account for all of this. Some of this is just a spoiled, egomaniacal brat not being able to accept responsibility for her own screwups.

Doesn't anything NICE happen at proms anymore? Ehh...maybe I don't wanna know!

Are you kidding? I'm thinking she's probably already been booked for Good Morning America, Letterman and Leno! Oh, and Larry King, too.

If some punk at a prom refuses to take a breathalyzer test, I say bring on the pepper spray.

Apparently, she's going to smash her head and face on the back of the chair, causing her nose to bleed, among other things.
