I agree. I'm shocked that she doesn't have one already.

I agree, in fact the entire cast does!

How can we get them to give her one?

Well, it reportedly costs $15,000 and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has to approve it. Maybe we could get Donna Douglas and Max Baer Jr.'s help? The children of Paul Henning? I don't know who, if any, of Irene's family are still alive.

I don't think Irene has any family left. But it sure would be great to see Irene, Donna and Max Stars. Buddy Ebsen has one, doesn't he?

Buddy has his own card in the Starline Hollywood Walk of Fame trading card set from 1991. Though, he signed the back of my card instead of the front.

I'm shocked as well. Every two bit performer nowadays can get them but not the real legends. Look how long it took to FINALLY get a star approved for Elizabeth Montgomery. Sadly great performers like Irene Ryan miss out on the tributes that they deserve as television icons nowadays.

I'd second that motion. She was terrific as Granny, my favorite character on
the show!

Irene absolutely deserves a star, I think she is right up there with Lucy, Mary Tyler Moore, and Eve Arden as one of the great sitcom actresses. Unfortunately they rarely give posthumous stars and it appears to be mostly a publicity thing given the costs and everything.

I would like to add that Donna Douglas certainly deserves a star as well - she's so iconic Mattel has just released a Elly May Barbie doll. Max Baer should get one, too but I doubt either would want to cough up the 15 grand for it at this point in their lives since both are essentially retired from acting.
