Syfy to do Updated American Version of U.K. Series "Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)"
Syfy to Resurrect "Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)"
by Rich Keller posted May 10th 2010 It looks like Syfy is continuing its programming friendship with various studios over in the U.K. According to a press release, Syfy has acquired the rights to the popular '60s British detective series "Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)" for development as a 60-minute scripted pilot. Originally produced by ITC -- the same company that produced such cult series as "The Prisoner" and "The Saint" -- "Randall and Hopkirk" was the story of a murdered detective (Hopkirk) who came back as a ghost that only his former partner, Randall, could see. A total of 26 episodes of the series aired between 1969 and 1970. The new version of the series will be written and executive produced by Josh Bycel ("Scrubs") and Jonathan Fener ("American Dad") and will be produced by ITV studios. There's no information on the tone of the show (the original series was an action dramedy), who will be cast as the two main characters or if or when the pilot will air on Syfy. http://www.tvsquad.com/2010/05/10/sy...kirk-deceased/ |
