Will Smith Commits to Men in Black 3D, First Story Details Head Back in Time

Deadline is reporting that Will Smith has officially signed on to star in Columbia Pictures' Men in Black 3D, which has been slated for release on May 25, 2012 (a year later than originally rumored).


As previously reported, Barry Sonnenfeld returns to the franchise to direct with Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin in final talks.

They also add that Rick Baker has been designing and building the creatures, Bo Welch has been designing the sets, and David Koepp has been polishing a script by Etan Cohen that got this whole thing started.



The film will use a time travel element that moves the action from contemporary back to 1969. Brolin will play the younger version of Jones's Agent Kay character.

She'll join Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Jemaine Clement, and Josh Brolin in the Barry Sonnenfeld-directed film coming out on May 25, 2012.

She said back in August that she was going to take a sabbatical from acting "next year".

So she may be completing whatever projects she's currently involved with now before she decides to leave acting during 2011.

Betty White Lands Motherly Role in Men in Black 3D

In an attempt to confirm some unconfirmed rumors floating around the web, Bloody Disgusting learned exclusively that Betty White has landed a cameo in Men in Black 3D.

White, who has recently had a major career resurgence, will be playing one of the character's mothers.

Photos have been released from the set of Men in Black 3, and they show Josh Brolin in costume for the first time.

Brolin is taking over for Tommy Lee Jones as Agent K because most of the movie will take place with Agent J (Will Smith) going back in time to seek out the younger K.

Men in Black III to Open in Imax 3D on May 25

Sony’s Men in Black III will get the large-format IMAX 3D treatment when it is released worldwide on May 25.

IMAX and Sony announced Monday that the movie will be digitally re-mastered for IMAX 3D with the proprietary IMAX DMR technology.





In the sequel to the first two MIB movies, which appeared in 1997 and 2002, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will reprise their starring roles as alien hunters.

Barry Sonnenfeld is directing from a screenplay by Etan Cohen based on the Malibu Comic by Lowell Cunningham.

Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are producing, with Steven Spielberg and G. Mac Brown as exec producers. The film also stars Josh Brolin, Jemaine Clement and Emma Thompson.





“Releasing a film in IMAX 3D signals an event release, and 'Men in Black III' on Memorial Day weekend certainly qualifies in a big way. We couldn’t be more excited about how 'MIB III' will look and sound in IMAX theatres,” Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution for Sony Pictures Releasing, said.

i like men in blaack movie ibeen watching the carton on theh ub. i use to have the game for x-box couple years ago. it was fun game. i can't witto seethis movie.nothingbeat the first one. i enjoy time travel movies so this is real treat for me.
