I would like to see the letters that have been on all the UM broadcasts in full. Sadly this will never happen but I think it would give a better insight to these cases. UM most of the time cut out the majority of the letter. Roger Dean's killer letter sent to DJ would have been good to see in full. Anyone think of any others?

The letter to Mary Couey (Keith Warren's mom) that came with the photographs. It said "Dont worry, Mark Findlay and _____ will be next." I'd love to know who that other person was that was mentioned in that letter and if that person died under mysterious circumstances.
And of course, the "el sickos" letter that Paul Freshhour wrote, uh I mean..... |

Also, sometimes a letter will contain incriminating information that would be known only to someone who committed a crime and those closest to the investigation of the crime in question. In other words, if you keep such information to yourself, a suspect might slip up and indicate a knowledge of those contents when there's no way he could have known about them unless he was involved in the crime. That's an error investigators often hope for, if not expect. |

The two letters sent after Doreen Marfeo vanished -- the one being a poison pen calling her a harlot and the other detailing how her husband murdered her. The police strongly suspected that her husband was the author of both. In a similar vein, Mikki Jo West's killer left letters in malls admitting to the crime.
Someone on this site posted the contents of the letter that claimed the writer was raising Nyleen Marshall; very creepy from I recall. |

The American-German air force pilot's missing father wrote his birth mother quite possible one of the most depressing letters I have ever heard in my life. So depressing I actually saved the segment on my Tivo.
I typed it up on one of my Livejournals a couple of years ago, I'll try to find it and add it! |

The last page of the letter Jesslyn Rich wrote to another guard at Frontera Prison was shown on screen. This letter was written very shortly before her murder and was discovered ripped to pieces in the trash by her brother when he investigated her house.
Unfortunately, the most interesting part of the letter where Jesslyn mentions the threat she got from a co-worker is almost impossible to read because the writing is so small and it's written in 3 lines on the margin of the letter. This co-worker said anyone messing with his drug activities would be taken care of. This was the only part of the letter I could make out using the pause button: ...continued as in the past - like father, like daughter ---'s. How sad! I'm sure Darcie is putting some bull**** - (and she'll get hers too sometime, like you're getting yours) but I'm not so sure she is totally wrong and that you have next - to some extent, deserved what you are going through. According to Chris & Tyler, you didn't take on all the bills from your divorce or pay child support all the time - and Kim and Cova stayed with you a few times - and wanted to go back to their mom, and Cova even faced you with it at one time and you get mad about it? If that is true, you HAVE lied to me - not evaded the truth, but LIED. You won't try to correct your mistakes. |

After Dennis DePue murdered his ex-wife and went on the run, he sent a letter to his former co-worker Jan Markowski. Only the last page of the letter was shown during the segment and Dennis' chicken scratch handwriting made it hard to read. The only thing I could make out was the last couple paragraphs...
...hopelessness, I decided to give up. I thank the Lord for 45 good years. I do not deserve to have him grant mercy on my soul. Marilynn had many, many opportunities to treat me fairly during this divorce. And she chose to string it out, trick me, lie to me. And when you lose your wife, children and home, there's not much left. I was too old to start over. Please only show this letter to Lon Fox, Jon, your wife, Julie Kolbe, Dennis Platte, John Person & Robert Vantenmark. They deserve to know why I chose to end my hopeless situation. I always have to... and the last line is cut off. |

Just so people don't have to go back and look for it, here's the letter from the man claiming to be Nyleen Kay Marshall's kidnapper, which I typed out a few years ago...
... all I could tell them was that she was O.K. I hope that Child Find can get the following back to her family. I picked "KAY" up on the road in the Elkhorn Park area between Helena and Boulder. She was crying and frightened and as I held her she was shaking and I decided that I would keep her and love her. I took her home with me. I have a nice investment income and I can work at home so I care for her myself all the time. I teach her at home and she likes to go with me when I travel. She would gladly recount to you trips to San Francisco, New York, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Nashville, Chicago, Puerto Rico and Canada. We were even in Britain for a month last year and she loved it. Nobody questions passports. Her hair is short and curly now and she has really grown. She is about 45 inches and around 50 pounds. She has all four of her permanent upper and two of her lower incisors at this time. She takes a bath and brushes her teeth every day. *** The next part of the letter isn't shown. (Continued from page 2) ... I don't tell her what it is or where it comes from, only that I get it from the bathroom every morning. It is actually a spoonful of my s*men. It doesn't affect her physically. I have NEVER "molested" her in any other way. She is a sweet little girl and it is because of how much I have grown to love her that I realize how much her family must miss her. But she has adjusted and seems happy. She trusts me and isn't afraid. We play alot and she laughs when we clown around. She smiles and acts coy when I tease her. She giggles when we snuggle and hugs me sometimes for no apparent reason. I love her and I have her. I just can't let her go! |
