Why did "Bewitched" - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Have so many producers ?They were

anny Arnold(season 1,Black and White),Jerry Davis (Season 2,black and white),William Froug(season 3,color),and William Asher(seasons 4-8).Why was this? And was Elizabeth Montgomery,durung the Dick Sargent as Darrin years(seasons 6-8)involved in the production of Bewitched.?Because in the closing of the leasons,they Dick Sargent seasons,they say "An Ashmont (William Asher-Elizabeth Montgomery)Production).They never did this in the Dick York as Darrin years.Was this ABC's idea?

Bewitched had 254 episodes IIRC so 4 producers doesn't seem to be unusual. By comparison, There were 156 Twilight Zone episodes and that series also had 4 producers.

Elizabeth Montgomery & Bill Asher were the real producers & called the shots re Bewitched right from the start of the show.

Functionally speaking they had creative control from the pilot on.

Ashmont was actually created as a Production company by the Ashers as soon as they got married in 1963, they did not get a credit for it till season 8 when they gained ownership of 80% of the show.

id the cast(Elizabeth Montgomery,Dick York(and later Dick Sargent),Agnes Moorehead,et.al.)get along with the producers?

You sure ask a lot of questions, I've noticed.

Like we were all there during production and would know this.
